Summary:

The GeospatialSystems Software Engineer II will perform software coding and writing ofsoftware documentation to design specifications while implementing dataconversion procedures and performing software and database quality control.

Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Performsoftware coding and write software documentation to design specifications.
  • Designand implement data conversion procedures and perform software and databasequality control.
  • Ensurethe stability, integrity and efficient operation of systems.
  • Designand develop QA/QC programs and oversee design and code reviews, databasereviews, and other QA/QC activities throughout the project life cycle.
  • Performdetailed software design and detailed database conversion design and aredirectly involved in the coding and implementation of the more complex andstrategic portions of application software and database conversion projects.
  • Otherduties as assigned

MinimumQualifications: (Toperform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in GeographicInformation Science, Computer Science, Cartographic Science, Geology, SocialScience, Environmental Science or Related Technical Discipline and 5+ years ofgeneral related experience.
  • Demonstratedexperience using COTS image software in both Windows/Linux operating environment.
  • Backgroundin requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies; documentationstandards; configuration management; DoD software policies; and DoD test andevaluation requirements; distributed systems, modeling and simulation, andresource utilization assessment.
  • TopSecret clearance with SCI eligibility

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Proficientin ESRI product languages, programming languages, Internet markup languages,and other technologies.
  • Thoroughunderstanding of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) software as well assoftware engineering and programming for GIS systems in large computer andminicomputer and microprocessor systems supporting broad base of applications.
  • Abilityto work holidays, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Abilityto travel to other government facilities, up to 25%, as required.
  • Strongcommunication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a multi-tasking environment, self-starter, accomplishment-oriented, team player, and an individual contributor.
  • Abilityto prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, be proactive, and assumeadditional responsibility and accountability.

  • The employee will normally work ina temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure toelectronic office equipment.
  • During visits to areas ofoperations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborneparticles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
