The Systems Engineering & Integration for the National Systems for Geospatial-Intelligence (SEIN) delivers full life-cycle systems integration and engineering services to the missions of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).  This program is chartered to provide technical leadership for many of NGA’s highest priorities, including the Geomatics mission area, which helps modernize the current baselined systems in the Foundation GeoInt Integrated Program Office.

The Geomatics Systems Engineer provides technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessment, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for the modernization of GPS, GSS, and other Geomatic systems.  The candidate must possess strong customer service skills and the ability to work as a valued team member in a fast moving and highly visible environment. Reporting directly to the SEIN ISI GPS Lead, the Geomatics Systems Engineer supports the architecture technical planning, execution, and implementation of Geomatics projects.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provides inputs/recommendations to Geomatics strategies and paths forward
  • Communicates and leads technical exchanges with the various stakeholders
  • Identifies key project decision points and provides Go/No-Go recommendations
  • Develops technical briefs and plans/status to NGA and community stakeholders
  • Translates customer needs into project requirements on behalf of the ISI PM
  • Monitors task execution and provides course correction actions
  • Leads the identification, tracking, mitigation, and resolution of technical risks and issues
  • Reviews team products for quality assurance
  • Works closely with the CIO and Security Accreditation offices to coordinate changes
  • Applies knowledge of system design to ensure multiple stakeholders work effectively together
  • Submits monthly status reports on Geomatics projects
  • Completes and submits required documentation for enterprise changes (SR’s, RFC’s, FCR’s, IRQ’s, SIDR’s, SWAP, etc.)
  • Performs and reports assessments of program operation architecture to facilitate engineering gaps
  • Designs and maintains a Requirements and Traceability Matrix (RTM)
  • Develops / prepares studies, schedules, assessments, and white papers as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS / Math / Science / Engineering  or related technical experience
  • 11+ years of experience in related field
  • SE&I experience working with NSG/NGA or GEOINT Mission Partner systems/segments
  • Strong interpersonal, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Extensive planning/scheduling/analysis expertise and experience
  • Experience applying system engineering processes, and detailed implementation planning to complex systems or enterprises
  • Familiarity with NGA systems or GEOINT Architecture
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Technical knowledge of network technologies and network protocols
  • Familiarity with NGA configuration management processes

Desired Qualifications- examples include:

  • Advanced degree in a technical field
  • Working knowledge of the NSG and NGA Acquisition Processes
  • Familiarity with NGA leadership and organization
  • Project/Task Leadership skills and experience
  • Familiarity with NGA leadership and organization
  • Knowledge of GPS, geodetic surveys, elevation modeling, or precise imagery
