General Maintenance Technician, CAA - Iraq

       

SUMMARY:

This is a trades position, based in Iraq supporting PAE’s Department of State programs. This person will be responsible for primarily performing the general maintenance in the CAA spaces but will also perform other general maintenance about the BEC as directed by the Carpentry Supervisor or O&M Management.   The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

  • Report to supervisor regarding work completed referring unusual technical or personnel issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist supervisor in scheduling work and determining needs for equipment and supplies to meet mission for the CAA spaces.
  • They will be responsible for maintaining needed supplies for the CAA spaces.
  • Provide input to performance reviews; monitor work of assigned crew members
  • Perform a variety of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment; prioritize, schedule, and coordinate the work of your team.
  • When needed, provide escort duties to other trades into CAA spaces.
  • Construct, rebuild and repair facilities including various wood and metal structures, equipment and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and varnishing and apply surface coverings as required.
  • Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable building codes, regulations and requirements.
  • Operate a variety of equipment and machines including saws, drill presses and various hand and power tools to perform repair and maintenance work; properly maintain tools and equipment on a daily basis for a safe working condition.
  • Perform a variety of skilled building maintenance including repairs to interior doors and windows, roofs and other building parts, wall repair, painting, tile repairs, minor plumbing, light bulbs as requested, hanging pictures, and assist occupants with minor office requests.
  • Maintain various records related to carpentry, material inventories and work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED:

  • Citizenship: Due to security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain a Secret or Top Secret prior to being hired is required for the position and maintain eligibility at the required certification level for the duration of the contract.
  • The General Maintenance Technician must have a minimum of four years compatible to a maintenance experience at the Journeyman level.
  • Must be able to properly store equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Requires experience in basic record-keeping techniques.
  • Perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Prioritize and schedule, work assigned by the carpentry supervisor.
  • Will train and provide work direction to assigned personnel in the performance of a wide variety of duties related to the building trades.
  • Interpret, explain and apply codes, rules and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities.
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches and work orders to others or as required.
  • Maintain routine department records.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff members and others departments.
  • Operate various types of vehicles to perform duties.
  • Prepare and submit detailed reports on carpentry projects for the Carpentry Supervisor

The ability to operate trade tools, equipment, materials, and be familiar with methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair for the following:

  • Concrete and masonry, constructing concrete wooden forms.
  • Drywall, windows, ceiling’s and doors.
  • Painting.
  • Moving and transporting supplies.
  • Plumbing.
  • Lighting.
  • Suspended ceilings.
  • General shop and worksite maintenance.
  • Safe operation of motor vehicles.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to meet schedules and time lines.
  • Knowledge of all principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.
  • Experience providing excellent customer services.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
  • Knowledge of computer, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Lift heavy objects
  • Education: A high school diploma (or GED).A vocational diploma in construction or completion of an Apprentice program with a Journeyman certificate is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills
  • Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.
  • Driver’s License: Must have a drivers’ license from home state that is valid for the length of the contract.

  • Relevant overseas contract experience
  • Experience working with PAE
