Summary:
  • The General Clerk II will perform postal services at the OfficalMail Center, Postal Service Centers, and Central Mail Room as well as delivermail to Activity Distribution Offices at Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland,Lackland Training Annex and Port San Antonio.

Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Pick upofficial/PSC mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS) JBSA LacklandBranch Post Office Facility, accountable mail from Document Security office forPSCs #2, 3, and 7, and CMR Port San Antonio, Monday through Friday.
  • Provide dailyservice for Postal Service Centers to include receiving, processing,distributing and directing mail, assigning, withdrawing mailboxes daily.
  • Affix appropriatepostage to all USPS outgoing official mail using Air Force-owned postagemetering machines.
  • Process daily, allofficial accountable mail received from the Document Security Section ensuring100% accountability.
  • Providereferral/directory service for all mail by the first pickup of the followingworkday.
  • Inspect all DDForms 2825, Internal Receipt and AF Form 627, Application for Registration orCertification of Official Mail for errors and discrepancies prior to signingthe form.
  • Deliver and pickup official accountable mail and pre-sorted mail to and from the Central MailRoom.
  • Issue, operate,and maintain lockboxes/mail boxes to authorized personnel to include assigningand withdrawing mail boxes as well as changes locks and combinations.
  • Processunaccountable mail, such as “Undeliverable as Addressed”, within two work daysof receipt.
  • Other duties asassigned

MinimumQualifications:(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily.)

  • High schoolDiploma or equivalent. Previous work related skill, knowledge, or experience.
  • Minimum two (2)years experience in postal operations.
  • Ability to type 45wpm with 100% accuracy, required.
  • Must have a validU.S. Driver’s license and be deemed insurable under company policy.
  • Must have a SecretClearance.

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

  • Must have workingknowledge of computers and the ability to use commercial software programswithin the Microsoft Suite.
  • Proficient inExcel, required.
  • Must not havepermanent physical restrictions prohibiting duty involving prolonged standing,walking, or lifting of weights up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be loyal,trustworthy, and honest.
  • Maintain neat andorderly files.
  • Ability to read,write and receive written and/or verbal instructions in English and tocommunicate information clearly and concisely, using written and verbal skills.
  • Must haveexcellent verbal communication skills for interfacing with military andcivilian customers.
  • Ability to usegood judgment and common sense when performing job functions.
  • Posses’ patienceto work under stressful conditions.

  • While performing the duties of thisJob, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear.   • The employee will normally work ina temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure toelectronic office equipment.
