Future Aircraft and Sensor Technology (FAST), Sr Manager Mission Assurance

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking an experienced Sr Mission Assurance & System Assurance Lead responsible for driving Mission Assurance discipline throughout multiple programs’ lifecycles (i.e., business pursuit and capture, program planning and execution, and the implementation of the Company’s Quality Management System consistent with Customer contractual requirements). Additionally, the Sr Mission Assurance & System Assurance Lead is responsible for the planned and systematic set of activities for performing independent reviews and assessments of program performance, including independent systems engineering technical assessments, quality assurance measurements/metrics, lessons learned, technology, production, and programmatic practices (e.g., cost, schedule, quality and risks). This role reports into the Secure Sensor Solutions (S3) Director of Mission Assurance. The selected individual will be the voice of the customer to independently assure mission success.

The Sr Mission Assurance & System Assurance Lead is responsible for leading a team of Mission Assurance and System Assurance engineers and will also focus on employee engagement as well as performance and career development. The Sr Mission Assurance Lead must ensure that technical requirements are developed using approved development processes and procedures. The Sr. Lead must be able to effectively work within a cross-function, matrixed organization in which there is close interaction and collaboration with Supply Chain, Operations, Supplier Quality, Hardware Quality and various Engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities include:
  • MA risk identification and mitigation
  • Technical requirements assurance
  • Escape prevention throughout the value stream
  • System Safety Assurance and Reliability Assurance
  • Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Failure review, root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Employing Raytheon Six SigmaTM
  • Quality Management System (QMS) tools and strategies
  • Common MA command media

The selected individual will perform the following with minimal supervision:
  • Execute Mission Assurance responsibilities as a member of the FAST Leadership Team
  • Ensure programmatic and technical risks are identified, contained, and managed throughout each phase of a program, beginning with business pursuit and program execution
  • Ensure Mission Assurance engagement in engineering development, design and test requirements verification, including the transition of design to production
  • Lead multi-functional teams in problem resolution and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on six sigma, lean practices and other analytical improvement methods and tools
  • Manage business and program performance utilizing predictive and proactive measures and metrics
  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with program management, cross-functional program leadership, suppliers, Customers and government representatives such as the Defense Contractors Management Agency (DCMA)
  • Lead Mission Assurance teams in performing to expectation and mentoring individuals in talent enhancement

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 12 years leadership in Engineering, Mission Assurance, Quality or Operations
  • An understanding of Quality Management Systems IS0 9001 or AS9100
  • Working knowledge of industry and government mission assurance requirements and standards
  • The ability to lead, coach and mentor others in routine settings and difficult situations
  • Ability to collaborate with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in risk & opportunity management, assessment, mitigation and capture
  • Practical knowledge of systems engineering, reliability and system safety requirements
  • Strong written/verbal presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Experienced in Earned Value Management and Cost Account Management
  • Experience in predictive and proactive measures and metrics assessments and leading actions to improve performance or mitigate problems
  • Working knowledge of Raytheon RCAS or a proven close- loop corrective action system
  • Experience with Raytheon IPDS/gating or program phasing (nonrecurring/recurring activities)
  • Past or present active member or chair of Material and Failure nonconformance review boards (MRB/FRB)
  • Raytheon Expert Certification or Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology or Quality Assurance

Desired Education:
Advanced Degrees in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Technology or Quality Assurance
