If you enjoy creating an FPGA development environment for new hardware architectures by integrating the Firmware Development Kit (FDK), design tools, and cores appropriate for the particular hardware version, then this is the job for you. Join CACI to work with a team of like minded people on the exciting BITS program.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Within the FDK create an initial design flow example and evaluate its performance synthesized on the FPGA hardware resulting in a design flow test bench.
  • Initial design flows consist of wrapper code encompassing a top-level module and interface modules adhering to the Sponsor’s standard design guidelines governing interface and port naming conventions, use of generics and parameters and heavy emphasis on maximizing code re-use to increase design efficiency.
  • Maintain a configuration managed repository of such initial designs and subsequent derivations.
  • Leverage the library of initial design flow templates to implement specific custom processing code blocks (modules) implemented in Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) Hardware Description Language (VHDL) packages.
  • Design and implement functional simulation tests at module and wrapper code levels using design flow test bench.
  • Aid systems engineers in integrating the FPGA synthesized design into hardware architectures for operational use.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of digital video codec standards and implementations
  • Apply extensive subject matter expertise in digital video codecs to assess the performance of non-standard deviations and unique custom formats
  • Collaborate with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) laboratory developers to prototype innovative tool sets supporting analysis and evaluation of digital video codecs
  • Perform technical analysis of data
  • Create written reports summarizing effectiveness of codecs
  • Create detailed presentations documenting analysis techniques

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Active TS//SCI clearance with polygraph
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training or work experience
  • Intermediate (or higher) Level work experience with FPGA programming equating to Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience, Master’s degree and 3years’ experience, Associate’s degree and 7 years’ experience, or Highschool/GED and 9 years’ experience
  • Familiarity with contemporary switching technology and protocols implementing commercial telephony and network services
  • Understanding of error correcting strategies adopted by various communication protocols
  • Understanding of hardware description schemes such as VHDL

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Configuration Management experience
  • Experience developing design standards for increased code re-use
