Flight Operation/Scheduling Manager - Contingent Upon Contract Award

Job Summary
The Flight Operations/Scheduling Manager is responsible for the supervision of the daily operations of the Aircraft Flight Scheduler team, as well as providing flight operations planning, oversight, and support. The Flight Operations/Scheduling Manager provides leadership and guidance to the team, establishes work procedures and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness of flight operations, serves as the primary flight operations liaison with the customer, and oversees compliance with Company policies.
Principal Accountabilities
  • Supervise daily tasks of team, generate work assignments, assign appropriate resources, manage schedules, set priorities, determine team objectives and procedures, assign daily tasks, review employee performance, and make strong recommendations on employment (hire/termination/salary adjustments) decisions.
  • Conduct research to identify and analyze key performance indicators such as scheduling effectiveness, aircrew currency compliance, optimum use of aircraft, simulator schedule effectiveness and similar management metrics.
  • Develop and present Operational Readiness Review (ORR) presentations, highlighting key analysis and messages to leadership and the customer.
  • Serve as primary representative of DI management team to aircrew members to ensure their operational and logistical needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Manage and oversee execution of training, analyze training needs, determine best method to facilitate and address training gaps, develop appropriate materials and syllabi, and oversee training deployment and execution.
  • Analyze data and advise management on safety, mission suitability, cost, schedule, & resources.
  • Manage and execute processes to obtain overflight clearances, missions, training and airspace scheduling, Personal Equipment coordination, & flight publications (FLIP) coordination.
  • Ensure availability of crew and aircraft for each scheduled departure; Coordinate with customer for optimum utilization of aircraft and crews during irregular operation(s).
  • Establish and manage long range mission schedules & perform mission support export control.
  • Gather, summarize, interpret, and create reports to submit to leadership, making fact-based recommendations as needed.
  • Disseminate and support company policies practices.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to act independently with a minimum of day-to-day direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, subordinates and customers.
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to recommend changes to existing processes and policies.
  • Familiarity with military and civil flight operations.
  • Ability to provide a leadership role for the team, assess performance, distribute workload, manage the day-to-day work flow, and make strong recommendations on hiring, discipline, termination, and pay.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to lead, coach, and manage others.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly desired.
  • FAA pilot or non-pilot aircrew license required.
  • Eight (8) years in a DOD and or Civilian flight operations management environment.
  • Prefer experience as pilot or non-pilot aircrew member or dispatcher.
  • FAA instrument rating, FCC radio operator’s license, and/or OCONUS aviation experience strongly desired.
