File System Software Engineer - RAS team

Job Description:

The Nimble Storage CASL data path team which is part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s storage division is looking for a Software Engineer to be part of the Reliability, Availability & Supportability (RAS) team. In this role you will be responsible for driving the effort to improve the reliability and supportability of the CASL file system.


  • Design and implement software focused on improving reliability and availability of storage systems
  • Develop tools focused on improving debugability of storage system software
  • Drive software fixes and product enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues in a timely manner and periodically communicate status
  • Perform under pressure in alignment with customer priorities
  • Partner with development, QA and support organizations to identify trends, address gaps and influence roadmap
  • Work with architects, product management and other stake holders
  • Define and drive product changes within engineering to improve RAS metrics
  • Resolve any issues arising from proof of concept (PoC) engagements
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers in the team

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. MS preferred
  • Experience developing software in C/C++
  • 5 - 10 years of professional software development experience, preferably in storage/file systems
  • Good understanding of how storage is deployed in a variety of customer environments is also preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution
  • Strong passion to deliver a smooth customer experience and focus on product quality
  • Ideal candidate will need to be hands on and have a strong technical background preferably in areas including file system technologies, network storage protocols (iSCSI/FC), snapshots, caching etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation, presentation, and influence skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience leading a team of engineers is preferred
  • Prior experience working in RAS like teams would be a plus
