Field Service Technician - TS/SCI w/ Poly

Job Description

**The position resides in Chantilly VA. with up to 75% OCONUS Travel**

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Responsible for the global installation of customer designed multi-service telecommunications transport system.
  • Provide global support for customer required Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities; i.e. circuit restorations, circuit activations, circuit troubleshooting, infrastructure repair; system relocations, etc.
  • Responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of cable connections between the various on-site customers and the Transport system during an installation or O&M project. These connections consist of both fiber and copper cables.
  • Responsible for the installation of conduit, ladder racks, demarcation boxes, power runs, breaker panels, breakers, and any other infrastructure needs to support a Transport system installation or O&M project.
  • Responsible for interpreting and utilizing Transport system inter-connect (IC) drawings or wiring schematics to ensure that the Transport system is cabled correctly for customer access, network management, and aggregated transport of data during a Transport system or O&M project.
  • Responsible for relocating all existing customers during a Transport system or O&M project onto the new Transport system with minimal customer interference and downtime; this includes assisting in the planning for customer transition times, customer readiness determination, and customer technical support.
  • Responsible for providing effective communication of all activities, issues, concerns, and needs on a daily and weekly basis during a Transport system installation or O&M project. Ensuring that all project documentation is filled out completely, grammatically correct, factual, and delivered in a timely fashion. Further, the technician is responsible for communicating the details of any Transport system installation or O&M activity to on-site customer prior to commencement of activities, as well as briefing the customers when the project is complete.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide training to on-site customers related to the physical interconnection from the customer access points to the Transport system and a higher-level explanation on data flow through the system.
  • Responsible for providing photographs that verify the quality of the work performed during a Transport system or O&M project.
  • Provide a professional image of the organization and our customer to all the global, on-site customers that are supported during a Transport system or O&M project.
  • Responsible for meeting the team's quality objectives through understanding and utilization of all team ISO 9001 certified processes, work instructions, and forms.
  • Responsible for maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction on all project assignments; ensuring that our customers have no complaints about the product delivered.  
  • Adhere to all CACI policies such as timekeeping, travel accounting, compliance training, etc.
  • Responsible for creation and submission of all travel related documents such as Travel Authorizations and Travel Expense Reports.


 

Required Skills:

  • 2 years of hardware installation experience
  • Bachelors and 3 years of relevant experience or technical training can be considered as equivalent to an associate's degree
  • Active TS/SCI with Poly is required to be start

Physical Demands:

Physical demands may vary depending on the work location. Ability to stand; walk; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. May need to meet manufacturers weight requirements for all equipment used. Required to sit at times; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. Travel of up to 75% is required.
