Field Engineer, Sr. (Anechoic Chamber Test)

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to support the Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) contract at Fort Huachuca, AZ.

Must be able to plan, design, develop and execute MIL-STD-461 testing. Radiated and conducted electromagnetic compliance of electronic systems or subsystems.

Position may require contact, research and follow up with vendors as well as the ability to investigate technical questions about systems being evaluated. Must be self motivated to accomplish tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible and deliver high quality reports or results.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years college or vocational training in area of specialty plus twelve (12) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of fourteen (14) years.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability and good comunication skills required.
  • Must be experienced with MIL STD 461 testing, engineering principles in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Radio Frequency (RF) and RE102/CE102 testing.
  • Applies principles and techniques of engineering to accomplish goals.
  • Experienced in use of Microsoft Office tools such as Word/Powerpoint/Excel to assist in writing up technical documentation as it applies to research, analysis, and reporting.
  • An active secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
Desired Experience:
  • Proficiency with electronics and TEMPEST testing is desired.
  • TEMPEST certification is desired.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle or anechoic chamber/control room (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers, customer, and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Work site is located in Ft. Huachuca, AZ.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required, this includes walking on uneven terrain in a field environment.

Equipment and Machines

Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.


Attendance Regular hours will be between Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm. This is a 9/80 work schedule allowing for every other Friday off. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements..

Other Essential Functions

Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion. Must pass drug screen. Appropriate boots and attire for working outside in a field environment are required. Outside work conditions are austere and in potentially extreme weather conditions. Extended work days and weekend work may be required. Must pass drug test.
