Farsi Senior Language Analyst

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides analysis and reporting of source material, both printed and audio, of Farsi source material. This position is a non-deployable position in support of the Facilities and Infrastructure Characterization and Analysis (FICA) Branch at the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) in Charlottesville, VA.  Candidate will work on a multi-intelligence fused team consisting of other all-source analysts, IMINT and GIS specialists, SIGINT analysts, Culture and Language analysts, with TECH and Collection Management support.

Must possess native or near native proficiency in Fars, typically a minimum of 3/3 on the DLPT or equivalent test.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active/current TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be able to translate intermediate to advanced level printed materials including technical manuals and Farsi periodicals into good grammatical English.
  • Must be able to transcribe and translate Farsi audio files into good grammatical English.
  • Prepares and updates databases of translated source material.
  • Operates customer furnished monitor/recording equipment.
  • Scans intercepted data and determines as pertinent or non-pertinent to mission requirements.
  • Participates in analytical meetings or conferences when applicable.
  • Drafts product reports.
  • Communicates intelligence requirements to collection managers and Big Data technologists.
  • Monitors and analyzes strategic and operational intelligence information.
  • Provides research support for IC and IA analysts who produce targeting reports and briefings.
  • Researches, analyzes and provides professional Intelligence assessments that support tactical, operational or strategic goals of customers.
  • Provides innovation and critical thinking skills to all customer problem sets. 
  • Expected to be able to translate creative and critical thinking into written and oral forms.
  • Researches unclassified and classified databases for use in written products. 


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Native Linguist -“ Requires native level skills and two to four years of experience.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Non-native Linguist - Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent and two to four years of relevant experience, and a minimum of 3/3 on the DLPT or equivalent test.
