Environmental Engineering Lead, #4376

LinQuest Corporation is seeking an Environmental Engineering Lead to join our team at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL.

 

You will work on the systems engineering and integration (SE&I) contract in support of the US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch Enterprise Systems Directorate (SMC/LE).  This effort includes overarching integration of launch and range programs which will require interfacing with both the EELV and any future SMC/LE launch systems.

SMC/LE's mission also includes mission assurance and launch safety. 

 

The position is full time on-site at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.  You will work onsite, co-located and closely integrated with the Government Customer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation of the LSP’s designs, operations, and procedures for launch vehicles and ground support systems to verify compliance with environmental requirements, and report discrepancies
  • Review of LSP proposed changes, and providing mitigation options to decrease or limit potential environmental liabilities and costs
  • Evaluation of LSP hazardous materials management to ascertain compliance with the provisions of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, requirements, and standards, and hazardous materials management requirements imposed by contract
  • Developing requests for Environmental Impact Analysis (AF Form 813) to initiate the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process for launch activities
  • Assessment of launch operations NEPA documentation to verify that the documentation complies with applicable requirements
  • Monitoring and documenting research and analyses of environmental impacts, as required, associated with launch operations to confirm continued compliance IAW EELV Environmental Mitigation Plans (EMP)
  • Review of proposed federal, state and local environmental requirements, regulations, laws, and standards to evaluate potential impacts to launch operations and provide impact analyses
  • Evaluating program execution (e.g. PMRs, technical meetings, working groups, etc.) and provide technical assessments and recommendations to ensure compliance with federal, state, local environmental laws, 45 regulations, requirements, and standards
  • Evaluating and updating the Programmatic Environment, Safety and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and EMP
  • Delivering technical assessments of LE program and acquisition documents including SIS, SPRD, CPD, RFPs, Acquisition strategy, PWSs, for compliance with environmental requirements and provide a detailed assessment of EELV impacts
  • Preparing 45 OG and 5 SLS documentation and practices in support of (ESOHCAMP) audits. Assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards
  • Evaluating HAZMAT management, environmental and bioenvironmental compliance and pollution prevention to ensure compliance with applicable laws, standards, regulations, and codes

 Required Skills:

  • Process environmental, health and safety engineering – 10+ years of USAF or Government-equivalent experience with an emphasis on compliance with environmental management and reporting requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations and options to the customer
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoD agencies to commercial industry
  • Knowledgeable in the use and application of MS Office suite – specifically project, word and excel

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarization with Environmental Mitigation Plans (EMP) and PESHE documentation

 

Required Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance to be considered for this position

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Participation in USAF launch processing
  • Launch Vehicles and Subsystems (Avionics, Propulsion, Structures) engineering
  • Space and Ground systems engineering
