Enterprise IT Solutions Architect

Jacobs is looking for an experienced Enterprise IT Solutions Architect to join our team in the Reston, VA office. We seek someone with deep technical talent to help us architect innovative solutions, conduct pre-sales engineering, answer RFIs, and help write compelling proposals. You’ll work directly for our Technical Director as part of our Solution Development Team, and you’ll work closely with the Office of General Manager; our Business Development Team; our Operations elements; and our distributed analytics, networking, and cyber labs.

Core responsibilities include:
  • Gather comprehensive functional requirements from clients and users.
  • Develop project specifications, schedules and test plans; prepare documentation based on analysts’ reports, and assemble documents presenting project guidelines and milestones to stakeholders. Identify potential risks, including issues between systems and client specifications and propose new solutions to overcome or mitigate these limitations.
  • Determine project scope and identify areas where implementation may require additional solutions to be successful.
  • Lead Development Teams, including clearly articulating requirements and tasks to team members. Ensure team members adhere to the plan, schedule, and specifications.
  • Communicate effectively and directly with enterprise architects, developers, and clients to provide feedback and updates on projects. Prepare reports, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Manage external vendors and suppliers to develop and implement specific aspects of the solution, ensure high quality inputs are delivered at the least possible cost, and ensure they meet cost and schedule expectations

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications. Demonstrated competence in project management and technical competence in discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies and practices.
  • 10+ years of experience in the IT field
  • Must be willing and able to travel at least 33%-50%

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:
Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:
General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:
General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

Attendance:
Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
