Engineering Support Journeyman

Key Role:

Provide Tier 1 management and support of client computer and user accounts, access to secured network resources, messaging services, and other applications, and escalate to Tier 2, as needed. Research, troubleshoot, and document findings on technical issues related to applicable hardware and software, including servicing peripherals, updating device drivers and firmware, and supporting numerous external Information Systems (IS). Set up and manage conference room VTC capabilities. Assist with hardware inventory, labeling, and accountability, including maintaining software licensing information. Manage fiber and copper cable endpoints for user desks within data centers and uplinks between building floors. Execute and coordinate replacement of hardware and software via Technology Refresh (TR) procedures in accordance with security policies, guidelines, and practices. Install hardware and software, system fixes, updates, modifications, and enhancements for numerous medium-sized networks and provide status updates to outstanding trouble tickets, tasks, and projects.

Basic Qualifications:

-6 years of experience with working in the DoD

-5 years of experience with providing client-facing help desk support for Windows-based systems

-Experience with Windows Server 2008, 2012, or 2016, Windows 7 or 10, and Exchange Server basic administration

-Experience with Local Area Networks (LAN) layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing functionality

-Experience with desktop Operating System (OS) image creation and deployment

-Experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) or VTC basic administration with Cisco products

-Experience with antivirus or anti-malware updates to Symantec and McAfee products

-Active Top Secret clearance

-AA or AS degree or 2 years of experience in Information Technology

-Certified DoDD 8140 for Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level 2 and at least one Computer Environment (CE) Certification from an OS, including Microsoft or Cisco

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with SAP preferred

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-TS/SCI clearance

-BA or BS degree preferred
