Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Structural Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA andsupports Full Scale Aircraft Fatigue Testing in a lab environment.
This position requires the ability and experience to design, develop, and implement structural and component testing methods and equipment. The structural test engineer will lead small teams in the design, build, assembly, and test execution of a variety of tests. Occasional travel with a small team to support mechanical structures testing at other Northrop Grummanfacilities may be required. Test engineer will interface with multiple customer contacts to derive test requirements, provide inspection data sheets, assist with test plan writing, delivery of test reports, and test execution. The Test engineer will also compile data and define changes required in test equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new test requirements. This involves use of load control and data systems. He or she will also identify and document data requirements and interface with program engineering to develop test methods to meet a variety of test requirements on everything from components to full scale aircraft. Testing includes Static, Fatigue, and Mechanism testing.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications: -
BS degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent STEM major, and at least 9 years of related experience

Experience in stress analysis using finite element models and hand calculations

Must have structures test experience
- Must have the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance to the level of Secret
Preferred Qualifications:
- DoD Secret Clearance
- 5 years of direct fatigue test experience on full scale aircraft.
- Test experience using advanced control systems with 4 or more load trains
- Demonstrated leadership skills
