Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Hardware Engineer/Principal Hardware Engineerbased out of Boulder, CO.

What You'll get to Do:

Realize the rewards of conquering new challenges in becoming a hardware engineer in the Boulder Hardware Engineering Excellence group. The qualified applicant will become part of the transforming Space Based Infrared Systems (SBIRS) Survivable Endurable Evolution (S2E2) hardware team. This position is for a multi-disciplined engineer who will provide technical solutions to difficult hardware problems, to include assisting in on-site installations, system training support, and engineering records updates. The right applicant will be a team player among a diverse group of hardware engineers. This opportunity will be a great learning and growing position in supporting technical hardware tasks, designing hardware architectures, and supporting system training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide training support on hardware systems

  • Analyze data center environmental controls including power and cooling.

  • Design data center computing systems including storage, networking, and audio video.

  • Provide material handling and procurement of hardware systems.

  • Install, configure, and checkout of data center computing systems.

  • Support the formal Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) required by each government accrediting authority through pretest preparations, participation in the tests, analysis of the results and preparation of required reports.

  • Support the preparation of test plans, verify requirements, and document discrepancies.

  • Troubleshoot technical problems and issues and determine technical solution in accordance with product and customer expectations.

  • Provide support to technical leads, design team, other hardware engineers..

This position may be filled at a higher job grade based on the qualifications listed below.


This position may be filled as either aHardware Engineer or a Principal Hardware Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Hardware Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related discipline.

  • 2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or no experience with a Master's degree.

  • Must have DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain a Passport.

  • Must have prior experience troubleshooting technical problems and issues developing solutions.

  • Must be able to travel ~25% of the time.

  • Must be capable of performing hardware integration with minimal supervision.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Hardware Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related discipline.

  • 5+years of solid related experience with a Bachelor's degree or3+ yearswith a Master's degree.

  • Must have DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain a Passport.

  • Must have prior experience troubleshooting technical problems and issues developing solutions.

  • Must be able to travel ~25% of the time.

  • Must be capable of performing hardware integration with minimal supervision.




Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, or related discipline.

  • Experience in leadership, leading teams, and providing technical guidance to other engineers.

  • Position prefers a candidate with a current TS/SCI Clearance.
