Engineer Embedded Software 1

Northrop Grumman Laser Systems is looking for a Software Engineer 1 with a passion for developing next generation embedded applications. Located in Central Florida in Apopka, Laser Systems develops ground, vehicle and airborne laser/EO systems to support and protect our service men and women. Candidate will participate in system design, algorithm and software development, GUI design, Software testing and reviews, plus field demos and support. This position requires strong trouble-shooting and debugging techniques, interaction with end-users, customers, and developers, as well as robust written and verbal communication skills.


Travel 10%
Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain one)’


Basic Qualifications:

• Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 0 Years with Bachelors in Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or related field, or a similar Master's degree. Experience can be from internship.
• C# / .NET design on Windows
• HW/SW System Troubleshooting
• SWCM Tools (Clearcase, GIT, other)
• Ability/Desire to Work in an Agile Team Environment
• Desire to Learn Complex HW/SW Systems
• US Citizenship is required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance




Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of embedded real-time system development
• Object Oriented Event Driven, Multi-threaded designs
• Full Software Development life-Cycle, Requirements to Test
• Design with Standard Network Protocols (TCP/IP, UDP)
• Design with Standard Video Interfaces (DVI, HDMI, HDSDI, RS170)
• Design with Standard Data Interfaces (USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS422, SPI, I2C)
• Graphical User Interface Design
• Feedback and Control Systems implementation
• Object Detection and Tracking Algorithms and Techniques
• Subsystem HW/SW Interfaces (Day/Thermal Cameras, INS, GPS, Laser Rangefinder, Gimbal Feedback Control Systems)
• C, Java
• Linux, Linux VM, Android
