Engineer Electrical

Summary / Responsibilities
The Electrical Engineering Group within NGIS division, responsible for the development of spacecraft avionics hardware, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to perform detailed circuit design of hardware, including flight part selection, schematic capture, and working with CAD personnel for part placement and signal routing. Responsibilities also include performing signal integrity analyses and documentation of the design in accordance with program requirements and institutional processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Design electronic circuits with digital and analog functionality for spacecraft applications. Select components with suitable radiation qualities. Interact with other team members and software group to determine interfaces and operating characteristics. Generate documentation and review packages for flight boards.

2.Test and debug boards. Bench level verification of board functionality. Work either individually or as part of a team to develop test procedures and hardware to verify breadboards, engineering models, and flight units.

3.Work with fabrication team on board layout and build. Define layout constraints and provide oversight to board layout personnel. Support board through manufacturing of breadboards, engineering models, and flight units.

4.Support delivery of board to box-level assembly, including testing and debugging.

5. Analysis skills to be able to do Electrical Stress analysis on parts with derating for space applications.

6.Worst Case Analysis skills for space applications over full military temperature range.

7.Be able to understand system level implications of board designs.

8.Team player to work with systems, CAD, procurement, manufacturing and harness groups.

9.Preferably able to handle soldering and de-soldering stations.

10.Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Tool Skill Set Requirements

1. Cadence Allegro, PADs, Altium, Eagle or similar layout tools.
2. Cadence HDL Concept, OrCAD, Altium, Designer or similar schematic entry tools.
3. Cadence PSpice, Spice, HSpice or similar simulation tools.
4. Exposure to Cadence Allegro SI/PI, Cadence Sigrity, Hyperlynx or similar signal integrity and power integrity analysis tools.
5. MS Office- Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word
6. Sone exposure to Visual Studio, C, C++, Python and / or Perl

Preferred Tool Experience
1. Cadence Allegro, Allegro SI/PI, Sigrity, PSpice, OrCAD, HDL Concept.
2. PTC Mathcad
3. Matlab
4. MS Excel with Visual Basic programming for macros.
5. Light programming skills in Visual Studio, Python and Perl

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

**Must possess a Top Secret security clearance with a valid background investigation**

BS in Engineering & 2 years, 0 years Masters with hands-on experience and familiarity in the design, development and testing of digital circuitry, an ability to work in a team-oriented problem-solving atmosphere is essential, able to independently carry the responsibility of executing the design duties. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Spacecraft electronics development
