Electronics Technician, Associate (Multi-Functional FSR-ES) - Kuwait (Secret Clearance Required)

GDIT has an exciting opportunity for an Electronic Technician with Elevated Sensors experience in Kuwait. Must have a current and active Secret clearance.

Specialized Electronic Technician

The role will be a Specialized Elevated Sensors Technician to serve as a technical expert throughout the area of responsibility (AOR). Individual will work at the front end of the delivery of our operation providing units within theater state-of-the-art ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and FP (Force Protection). This position requires individuals who are self-motivated, suitably experienced, qualified, and able to follow instructions clearly but also able to make command decisions on the spot in order to achieve the aims of the organization. Majority of time is performing hands-on installation, training, testing and repair. Specific systems include BETSS-C, Cerberus, RDISS, and other communications/surveillance equipment and systems.

Essential Duties:

  • Performs site surveys to ensure the location is suitable for the equipment and to make sure that prerequisites are identified.
  • Installs and configures the following mechanical, electrical and electronic components: 80 and 107-foot towers, FLIR Star Safire III & HD cameras, copper and fiber optic LANs, MSTAR radars, VOIP phones, network switches, Linux and Windows PC’s, point-to-point radios, 5kW power generators, hydraulic lifts and fiber optic modems.
  • Trains small groups of Army operators on tower raising and lowering and preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on each system and its components.
  • Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation and repair or replacement of defective components. Troubleshooting and repairs may be highly complex in nature and involve mechanical assemblies, hydraulics and electrical, electronic and optical components.
  • Perform operations checks on systems prior to moving systems from each site to ensure 100% functionality for the next installation.
  • Perform inspections of installed equipment to verify accountability of BETSS-C assets.
  • Provide Technical representation at meetings and consultations with clients or their representatives.
  • Advise the unit commander on the feasibility, functionality and capabilities of the Sensor Systems assigned to the AOR.
  • Work in conjunction with the unit commander on the ground to ensure all the unit's requirements for the Sensor Systems are met.
  • Individual will be the on-site point liaison for the customer.
  • Interact with all levels of the organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful way. 
  • Multi-task efficiently and work in a fast pace environment on multiple projects.
  • Creates trouble tickets and requests parts through a proprietary database.
  • Contacts and coordinates with internal departments for parts.
  • May be required to travel to multiple locations within Southwest Asia.

The Ideal Candidate must have:

  • Must have a current and active U.S. Government SECRET clearance.
  • HS Diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience.
  • BS or equivalent Military/Technical Experience.
  • Candidate must have 2+ years remaining on passport.
  • Passport must obtain 6 blank pages together.
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting and component level repair. 
  • Valid driver's license.
  • IT Networking experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to meet internal paperwork requirements.
  • NOTE: If selected, candidate MUST pass the Pre-Test Examination at the BETSS-C school. If not, the employment will end at that time.

The Ideal Candidate should have:

  • Previous experience operating or using BETSS-C Surveillance and Protection Systems, (e.g. RAID, Cerberus, GBOSS, TASS Annunciators, Unattended Ground Sensors, Thermal Imagery, Ground Surveillance Radar, Closed Circuit Television, Command and Control Systems)
  • Minimum of three years Electronics/Communications technical experience.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment used for troubleshooting, diagnostics and preventative maintenance and volt meters.
  • Experience working in hostile and austere environments.
  • Experience in Customer support.
  • Experience in stock control and asset management.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience in a forward-facing customer support role.
  • Comp TIA Security+ or Comp TIA Network+ certification.
  • Excellent customer presence as well as verbal and written communication skills, writing system documentation documents, and communications involving system installation and operation.
