This position will involve:
Field supervision and coordination of cable and cable pathways installed by others.
Coordination with other trades for the installation of AACS and CCTV devices.
Field installation of CCTV peripheral devices.
Communicate timely issues, updates, schedules, needs, etc. with MCD Supervision
The Electronics Technician III will demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Install and maintain electronic security systems with experience on various systems and with multiple customer programs
- Understand and analyze design documentation and system data to plan and execute installation and maintenance activities
- Identify installation and maintenance activities and determine execution durations
- Complete high quality device and component installation activities and maintenance activities
- Participate in configuration of servers, workstations, panels and other programmable components
- Execute testing to verify high quality installations
- Execute testing to identify and correct system problems at component and system levels as part of system sustainment activities
- Install system raceway
- Install system cabling
- Terminate and test system cabling and all components (Fiber Unicam Connectors; 8P8C; RG59; etc)
- Install equipment racks, enclosures, panels and all mounting hardware components
- Meet all attendance requirements and working hours of the assignment
- Communicate effectively with supervisors
- Communicate effectively with subordinates
- Incorporate, follow and reinforce all required safety practices at all times
- Participate in creation, updates, and management of project schedules
- Identify potential project risks and manage to mitigate
- Track, document and analyze for productivity improvements
- Perform design drawing take-offs and participate in material order preparation
- Complete detailed and accurate as-built, testing, and quality control documentation
- Participate in logistics planning for personnel and equipment
- Perform as a reliable contact for field operations with the customer representatives

 

 

Specific position requirements are as follows:

- Four (4) years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities on multiple systems and with multiple customer programs
- HS diploma or GED
- Formal Electronics Training as follows:
   - Associates Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Telecommunications Technology, Electronics Technology, etc.) or
   - Military Electronics Training (minimum 720 classroom hours) or
   - Graduation from an accredited Electronics Technician program or
   - Graduation from an Electrical Apprenticeship program or
   - An additional two (2)) years of electronics installation and/or maintenance activities
- Valid driver's license
- Candidate is not required to be cleared to apply, but must meet basic eligibility requirements for a minimum US Secret level clearance at time of hire.
 
Must have hands on experience in the installation of CCTV peripheral field devices
Have hands on experience in the installation of cable pathways and cable installation
Have a basic understanding of system networks
Have experience in computer software i.e.  Excel, Word, CCTV programming and commissioning software
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to accurately read a set of installation documents i.e. specifications, plans
Ability to operate an iPad
Ability to work independent of supervision

Specific desired experience, skills and certifications are as follows:
- Vendor certifications in multiple IDS, ACS, and CCTV systems
    - Lenel Certification a plus
    - MDI Certification a plus
    - Pelco Certification a plus
   - AACS and CCTV systems certification a plus

 

 

Abilities:

  1. Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
  2. Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  3. Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  4. Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  5. Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  6. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  7. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.  It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  8. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  9. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  10. See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  11. Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
