Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Performance Engineer

Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems - Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) Electronic Warfare (EW) Electronic Protect Department is seeking talented and collaborative technical candidates to function as an Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Performance Engineer. Major activities within the group and for this position include conducting threat analysis of current and future radar systems, conducting effectiveness analysis of EW subsystems, and the generation/utilization of modeling tools to aiding in the design and maturation of EW components and systems. The position will requires the ability to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment and collaborate with senior engineering leadership and program management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define algorithms to support the optimization of system performance and operations by applying fundamental radar principles and modeling electronic countermeasure (ECM) techniques
  • Actively collaborate with team members across a multi-disciplined organization to refine and mature system design and promote distribution of knowledge
  • Partnering with engineers across multiple disciplines to define unified approaches to quantify impacts of payloads (radar, electronic support measures, electronic attack), weapons and tactics on system survivability and mission effectiveness
  • Develop systems architecture that can support engagement of emerging complex threats and operations
  • Deriving system requirements and design solutions
  • Generate/Conduct simulations of threat systems, EW subsystems and components supporting technology maturation
  • Actively participate in definition of team objectives and provide solutions to complex technical tasks including system design decisions involving trade studies, requirements allocation, and verification methods
  • Provide support for programs through participation in project design reviews and peer reviews, including technical briefings to internal leadership and external customers
  • Demonstrate ability to continuously adapt to changing business needs

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years related systems engineering experience; requires Electronic Warfare experience and Understanding of Radar Fundamentals.
  • Strong background in modeling and assessing threat air and ground, RF, Electronic Attack capabilities, and advanced weapon system concept performance and employment.
  • Proficient in creating algorithms and executing analytical tools and applications using structure and object-oriented design approaches.
  • Experience with utilizing mathematical models and physics-based Monte Carlo simulations to assess survivability and mission effectiveness of advanced weapon system concepts.
  • Extensive experience with physics-based, mathematical models and performance to quantify impacts on system design.
  • Technical breadth and operational background in military air operations and combat systems.
  • Occasional business travel is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with Active (or active within past 24 months) DoD Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

  • Experience with Missile Defense related Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (3DOF, 6DOF)
  • Knowledge and understanding of air, space, cyber, Information Operations, and Integrated Air Missile Defense Systems to fuse platforms’ capabilities into a cohesive system-of-systems architecture.
  • Ability to successfully thrive in programs with aggressive delivery schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with surveillance and target tracking radar systems and functionality, electronic counter measure and ECCM techniques, surface-to-air missiles, integrated air defense systems.
  • Familiarity with signal/detection and target tracking analysis, multiple target tracking and data fusion and resource management
  • Specialized knowledge of US military constructive simulations including AFSIM, Suppressor/JIMM, EADSIM, ESAMS, BRAWLER, JAMM, and/or RADGUNS
  • Experience in programming with MATLAB/Simulink, Python and/or C++
