Electrical Engineer Signal Integrity

The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD) Product Technology Center (PTC) is seeking a Electrical Engineer with strong Digital Electronics design and Signal Integrity analysis skills to join our team.

We are looking for candidates willing to collaborate, innovate, and team with our engineers to generate and utilize today’s cutting-edge technology to design digital electronics circuits that implement missile guidance, video and digital signal processing. Our technology base includes high-speed digital electronics, configurable logic, and homogeneous / heterogeneous multiprocessor designs.

The Mission Computers and Processors Department provides digital electronic circuit cards and electronic units which are supported from proposal through transition to production. Our systems are subject to environments ranging from the frigid, sub-zero vacuum of space, to the blistering heat of the desert floor, to the high pressures of the ocean depths.

Job Description:

A Signal Integrity Engineer with digital and analog background to contribute to the analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs for Missile applications. The Signal Integrity Engineer must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, DDRx, I2C, SPI). This position will function in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects. This person will support analysis for multiple modules, CCAs or units and will be expected to apply rigorous and systematic design processes to ensure design compliance. This position will interface with Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTL) and stake holders to ensure program objectives are achieved.

Please note this position can be an Electrical Engineer I or Sr. Electrical Engineer II depending on the candidates skills and experience.

Required Skills:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in actual product design and analysis, SI/PI methodology development, and lab correlation/validation of the simulation results.
  • Familiar with lab equipment including but not limited to VNA, real-time scope, spectrum analyzer
  • Deep knowledge in 3D/2D EM simulation tools and transmission line theory
  • PCB design experience
  • Familiarity with performing detailed Timing Analyses, including DDRx
  • Experience in Power Distribution Network analysis including DC Drop and AC Analysis
  • Experience with feasibility studies, design verification and correlation.
  • Experience contributing to design guides and routing rules for specific interfaces
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with feasibility studies, design verification and correlation.
  • Experience contributing to design guides and routing rules for specific interfaces
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Design Creation tools: DxDesigner, xDX Designer VX, and Constraint Editor System (CES)
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics PCB electronic circuit design software: HyperLynx signal integrity, power integrity, and analog simulation, Xpedition Enterprise (xPCB)
  • A strong advocate for process improvement
  • Active Secret DoD security clearance strongly preferred

Required Education (including Major):

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (MS preferred) and a minimum of 2 years’ experience
