DoD Gateway SATCOM Technician-Non-TESA--Germany

The SATCOM Tech shall provide technical support for the operation and maintenance of a DoD SATCOM Gateway.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shall have knowledge of strategic SATCOM terminals; C, Ku, X, and Ka bands.  Experience with DKETs, STTs or similar.
  • Shall have Gateway experience.
  • Shall have knowledge of test equipment of their operation.
  • Shall have knowledge of strategic EHF & UHF systems.
  • Shall have good communication and writing skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining the quality and continuity of all SATCOM networks.
  • Reports all appropriate information regarding trouble tickets, or mission affecting events to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Maintain required Master Station Logs and perform facility associated inventories.
  • Troubleshoot and repair circuits and equipment as outages occur.
  • Review and implement TSOs; schedule ASIs; Process SAAs and GAAs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 3 years of experience. In lieu of a Bachelors, an Associate’s degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience is required.
  • Must have an active US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Must possess experience in communications software, hardware or networks.
  • Specific experience required includes protocol analysis, knowledge of OSI protocol (TCP/IP, X.25.X 400, and X.500).
  • Understand  the fundamentals of VoIP and IP Telephony; Proficient with IP addressing and Subnet masking architecture.
  • Experience working with DoD SATCOM Gateway equipment, including AN/GSC-52B, DoD Teleport Systems, MIDAS, iDirect, EBEM, Navy Multi-Band Terminal, AF Command Post Terminal, KIV-7M, TACLANE.
  • Knowledge of critical power systems including power generation, uninterruptable power supplies, critical power distribution, and RT-200.
  • Knowledge and experience working with critical facility HVAC systems.
