Director of Readiness


Overall objectives:

The Director of Readiness will work with NMS-GVS and Resolute Support advisors to assist and develop Afghanistan National Defense Security Force (ANDSF) members.  The focus is development of accountability, maintenance, technical support, training, publications, researching and resolution of readiness issues, and fielding. 

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist in utilization of CoreM3 or other solutions that will support accountability, and higher-level maintenance procedures/management of the equipment supported by the Vehicle Directorate.
  • Assist in the development of equipment maintenance and sustainment plansMaintenance plans would include the development of maintenance allocation charts, field and depot level maintenance procedures/programs, and the review of TASHKILs with GS G3 and other Afghan elements to ensure that equipment maintenance requirements are appropriately resourced
  • Assist the Directors in evaluating and working with TED-C (Training, Education and Doctrine-Command) and other organization in the development of training.
  • Schedule and attend regular workshops and meetings with Coalition and Afghan staff and leadership on assigned project areas
  • Attend training courses and programs required by Resolute Support Operational Support Logistics (OS-LOG).
  • Develop and conduct training programs for Afghan staff and leadership.
  • Work with Afghan staff and leadership to develop regulations, policies, and processes and knowledge base library to support Afghan development.
  • Independently liaise with Afghan Officers as required for the assigned duties.
  • Prepare and transmit all required correspondence.
  • Work with both the LN GS-Tech and MMC liaisons.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.


  • Minimum 4 years work experience in a maintenance logistics, warehousing, or distribution management role, to include managing personnel.
  • Understanding of and experience with US or Afghan military logistics, maintenance and sustainment programs from either a technical or programmatic perspective.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the results of data analysis to sponsoring senior Coalition and ANDSF officials through written reports, briefings, and oral presentations
  • Capability to be effective in a complex strategic environment through influence and interaction.
  • Strong analytical skills using appropriate quantitative and qualitative tools and methods.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in successfully managing a multi-national workforce.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of information systems to manage a large, national maintenance program effectively.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time. and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Language skills: Strong, professional, oral and written English communication skills.
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment screening process, which includes drug testing, physical examination, and background check.

Work Environment

  • The full-time work location for this position is Afghanistan; an austere and hostile environment.
  • Work hours will be in accordance with Afghan Labor Laws
  • Able to walk/stand on level or inclined surfaces for prolonged periods per day, sit for prolonged periods per day, and climb/descend stairs or rough terrain.
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including but not limited to heavy lifting of up to 40lbs; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors.
  • Able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders. Able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment - temperatures can reach 49 °C (120 °F) during summer, and as low as -9 °C (15 °F) during winter.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from acts of aggression.
