Deputy Program Manager

Jacobs is seeking a Deputy Program Manager in Washington, DC. Duties will include:
  • Assist Program Manager in establishing overall program performance standards for projects, project managers and their teams.
  • Assign and manage project managers, team members or other staff to various tasks or phases of work in the life cycle of multiple projects or products.
  • Supervise functional leads and project managers including program role & responsibilities training and work performance tracking, and assisting as needed in design and provide development opportunities to staff.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual work performance evaluations.
  • Track performance of members of various project teams, functional leaders, or groups to assess program compliance with budgetary, time and other requirements.
  • Research, submit, and track execution of ODC purchases.
  • Review work product of teams for compliance with organizational objectives and goals.
  • Formulate and implement plans for recovery, alteration of work or otherwise handling emergencies, disruptions of programs, production or project schedules and unanticipated events.

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications. Demonstrated competence in project management and technical competence in discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies and practices.
  • Familiar with Cloud and Big Data technologies
  • Communication. Deputy Program Manager needs the ability to clearly instruct project managers, program functional leads and their team members and relay updates and progress information to government leads.
  • Discernment. A Deputy Program Manager should understand details and technical aspects of specific projects.     • Experience executing procurements on behalf of government clients
    • Experince tracking and managing project financials
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • Strong MS Excel and Project skills

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
