Demand and Supply Production Control Specialist

Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is looking to staff a Demand and Supply Production Control Specialist position located in Dallas, TX. This position is within the Advanced Product Center North Texas Operations group. The candidate needs to be energetic, willing to learn, able to work independently and have the ability and desire to be a change agent. This pivotal role will operate in multiple shop floor and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) related systems to ensure alignment between material position and production schedule. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following.
  • Evaluating and coordinating program requirements to ensure a controlled flow of materials and services to meet customer requirements,
  • Providing status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed,
  • Working daily to confirm material supply and demands,
  • preparing work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirements,
  • Coordinating cross-functional interdepartmental activity as needed (i.e. with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, programs, logistics),
  • Working with program support staff to resolve material shortages and other issues impacting product build,
  • Taking corrective action on unfavorable trends as necessary, and
  • Reporting on and troubleshooting MRP system generated exceptions

U.S. Citizenship is required, as the candidate must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance with the first year of their start date.

Required Skills:
  • 2 years relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of or experience using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes and/or software
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and environment
  • Experienced and effective communicator (presentation skills, written and verbal communication)
  • Ability to apply critical thinking techniques, using logic and reasoning to identify approaches to problems, and the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering or related manufacturing engineering
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with data sets and scripting, in Access, SQL, SAP, or similar software
  • Motivated and takes on challenges with minimal direction, with the ability to see when something needs to be done and react accordingly
  • Ability to understand complex systems and processes
  • Ability to apply Lean and 6 Sigma concepts to improve departmental, factory related, and cross-departmental processes

Required Education: BS/BA from an accredited university with a major in Operations, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field

Desired Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Operations, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
