Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) Liaison & Cyber Intel Specialist

Job Description

The 14th Air Force (14 AF) Forces (AFFOR) Communications Control Center (ACCC) provides the Headquarters, Air Force Space Command (AFPC) and 14 AF Commanders and the 624th Operations Center (624 OC) with situational awareness of AFSPC-unique functional system availability and compliance with network taskings.  The 14 AF ACCC operates as part of the AFFOR for Command and Control (C2) of cyberspace forces supporting Space missions to ensure effective mission assurance. ACCC manages the trouble ticket process and prioritization on behalf of the space wings, oversees cyberspace orders compliance and informs and enables the C2 of Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO).

 

This position is embedded with various 14 AF organizational elements.  Individuals will plan and implement cyberspace defense capabilities, processes and procedures on existing space mission systems and review new or additional plans to ensure incorporation and implementation of cyberspace defense capabilities, processes and procedures; participate in operational planning team for cyberspace support and operations to space weapon systems and provide analysis and intelligence support to the 14AF Space Wings, Los Angeles AFB and the United States Air Force Academy..

 

Duties include:

  • Maintain awareness and understanding of space systems architectures and key cyber terrain
  • Identify and provide corrective actions and planning efforts, conduct trend analysis for cyberspace anomalies and correlate threat and vulnerability data for analysis and recommend actions to mitigate issues on space mission systems
  • Analyze space mission systems for cyberspace security actions. Identify recommendations to government leads who can task applicable SPO for fix actions identified via government processes and procedures, inspections and or assessments and track and report status of these fix actions and POA&M that identifies units affected, timing, tempo and costs of fix actions required
  • Develop and implement processes to task, track and develop POA&Ms, then monitor progress of units and/or associated SPO in remediation of reported recommendations.
  • Clearly organize and present reported findings to leadership and brief leadership on POA&Ms and fix actions.
  • Inform and brief leadership of scheduled or unscheduled cyberspace inspections or assessments
  • Conduct trend analysis for cyberspace anomalies and assessment findings and communicate trend analysis results to respective leadership.
  • Recommend and help improve/fix existing cyberspace processes and AFFOR processes/tools, in accordance with 14 AF governing instructions, policies, and/or procedures as cyberspace security initiatives continue to evolve
  • Recommend changes to Joint Pubs, AFIs, governing instructions, policies, and or procedures to improve cyber in support of space
  • Produce and maintain documentation to support trend analysis of cybersecurity implementation and inform 14 AF decisions regarding current and future cyberspace security implementations
  • Provide informal reports, as required, of activities conducted on behalf of 14 AF.
  • Participate, as requested, in operational planning teams, working groups, intelligence planning meetings, Tiger Teams, and meetings that relate to cyberspace support and operations to space wings and space networks.
  • Investigate and determine applicable intelligence behind cyberspace orders affecting space wing networks
  • Review all Critical and Serious cyberspace orders from USCYBERCOM and other directing agencies publishing orders affecting space wing networks
  • Provide this intelligence and conduct analysis for mission impact and brief appropriate government leadership

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • 8-10 years of related experience in data security administration.
  • 4 years of intel related experience
  • Top Secret DoD Clearance with SCI eligibility
