Database Developer

Candidate must have an active Public Trust Clearance

Key Tasks:

  • Support the development phase:
    • Implement logical data base design in MySQL/RDS database, utilizing best practices in the proper use of SQL (triggers, indices, views, data types, transaction management, performance tuning, clustering security, backup and restore methodologies)
    • Support test teams to develop and execute scripts to create test data
    • Support database architect role based databases access by application users
    • Facilitate technical architecture meetings from database architecture perspective
    • Knowledge of Erwin for data modeling
    • Collaborate with team to design new features and functionality
  • Support the O&M phase:
    • Support configuration management, including database builds and database upgrades
    • Monitor and maintain the database metrics, ensuring performance is maintained, especially during peak periods.
    • Serve as a mentor to technical team
    • Monitor progress against deliverables, employing effective risk and issue management strategies
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database implementation and maintenance procedures
  • Participates as both a leader and a team member and works to maintain a positive environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience supporting CMS Medicare or Medicaid programs
  • Experience writing software design technical specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks simultaneously and complete work within allocated time-frames

Required Skills:

  • 6-8 years of proven experience
  • SQL database, preferably MySQL
  • Knowledge or Erwin data modeler
  • Supporting databases in the AWS Cloud
  • Integrating databases with BI or other reporting tools
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills, both verbal and written

 

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proven experience with:
    • Working closely with software development teams in an Agile SCRUM environment
    • Understanding and adherence to basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management
    • Collaborating in a multiple contractor environment
    • Previous experience working with pharmaceutical drug product and pricing information
    • Proficient in MS Word, and MS Excel

 

Required Education / Certifications:

  • Computer Science degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related major
