SAIC is hiring a Cyber Security Engineer / Architect

to join our Team in Washington, DC

Job Description

The AEGIS Combat System is the Navy's premier combat system designed to perform in all mission areas: Anti-Air Warfare (AAW), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW), Strike Warfare (STW),Command/Control/Communication (CCC), and Electronic Warfare (EW).

The candidate will be involved in the development and integration of Cybersecurity into AEGIS by providing engineering support services to the AEGIS Combat System Cyber Lead within the PEO IWS 1 Systems Engineering (SE) Program Office.

The ideal candidate is someone with a technical background, who will enjoy reviewing technical documentation to advise Cybersecurity Architectural and Engineering decisions for future AEGIS baselines, and coordinate integration efforts with connected sensors, weapons, and communications systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review architectural and engineering documents to meet cyber requirements for future combat systems
- Participate in and conduct technical briefings at meetings with internal and external representatives
- Interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels
- Assist in developing schedules and plans of actions and milestones for producing deliverable products and reports within customer- directed timelines
- Assist systems engineers in developing component and connectivity requirements that comply with cybersecurity standards for new equipment and/or new systems
- Provide software system engineering expertise to evaluate cybersecurity requirements have been met
- Recommend changes to policies and established procedures
- Perform security control design and solution planning at the system, mission and enterprise level
- Research and evaluate cyber capabilities, new security tools and products against operational requirements

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and five years or more of relevant IT experience, or, Masters and three years or more of relevant IT experience

Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance or Computer Engineering or Computer Science with a Cybersecurity focus

Required Qualifications:
- At least one of the following IAT Level II Certifications: CCNA Security, GSEC, Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to excel in a fast paced program office environment
- Possess attention to detail
- Experience working in one of the following roles: Cyber Defense (e.g., Navy Cyber Protection Team (CPT)/Blue Teaming familiar with cyber defense capabilities and incident response), or, Penetration Testing/Red Teaming, or, Systems Security Engineering
- Experience with a wide range of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Red Hat, Red Hawk, VxWorks, Cisco, Solaris), technologies and cyber tools (e.g., SIEM, Splunk, NMAP, Wireshark, Encase/FTKImager, Kali, Metasploit, ACAS/Tenable Nessus, Nexpose, HBSS/McAfee ePO, etc.)

Desirable Qualifications:

CISSP Certification

Prior experience supporting the NAVY

Experience with one or more of the following:

- Integrating cybersecurity into all phases of the system’s lifecycle

- Systems Engineering V Model

- Model Based Systems Engineering

- Architecting and engineering Cybersecurity Solutions for Navy Combat Systems and system of systems enclaves o DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)

- Root Cause Analysis

- Vulnerability Analysis

- Network Forensics/PCAP Analysis

- Boundary Defense Capability (BDC)

- Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)

- Table Top Exercises

- Anti-Tamper

- Surface warfare experience, either as a member of the US Navy (Chief or Officer preferred) or as an engineer or manager having supported weapons system/C4I system acquisition, systems engineering or fleet maintenance

- Possess knowledge of US naval communication suites in areas such as LAN, WAN, and RF paths

Security Clearance Requirement:
- Active SECRET security clearance with the ability to upgrade to TS/SCI

- Work Location: SAIC facility and Washington Navy Yard
- Schedule: Can offer a flexible schedule falling within core hours 9AM- 3PM
