Cyber Analyst / Security Control Assessor

We have an opening for a Cyber Analyst/Security Control Assessor to independently and collaboratively perform a wide range of activities associated with cyber security.  The position is within the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITSD) of the Computation Directorate matrixed to the Cyber Security Program (CSP) in support of the LivIT Program.

This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Analyze system security control requirements and write implementations that identify, assess and mitigate risk associated with computer operating systems, networks, and cloud services.
- Analyze moderately complex information system security plans and testing documents, and assist programs in the development of testing procedures and security plan documentation.
- Perform comprehensive assessments in support of ongoing authorization of information systems and cloud services.
- Assist in maintaining and expanding the Site Security Component Library and provide technical assistance to others in the area of cyber security - Respond to data calls and external auditors.
- Analyze and evaluate cyber security processes, procedures and policies for efficiency and accuracy
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the SES.3 Level
- Provide advanced technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring to others in area of cyber security.
- Collaborate in the development of new processes and serve as a primary technical point of contact with sponsors and stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience and comprehensive knowledge of computer and network technologies and Apple, Windows, and/or Linux hardware and operating systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze moderately complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Comprehensive analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
- Experience performing risk analysis.
- Broad technical experience in one or more areas such as cyber security administration, computer hardware, computer programming, high performance computing, data analysis.
- Experience and knowledge of the skills needed for a customer support role to include a focus on listening, rapport-building, excellent communication skills, friendly and approachable nature, courtesy and patience, and negotiating and influencing skills.
- Proficient verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment and communicate technical information, document work, and prepare and present technical information.
In Addition at the SES.3 Level
- Significant experience managing multiple concurrent tasks and priorities of customers and stakeholders to ensure milestones are met.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop creative solutions to complex problems.
- Significant experience in computer and network technologies and knowledge of cyber security requirements.

Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 (Security of Privacy Controls for Federal Information Systems and Organizations) and LLNL’s implementation of the controls.
- Knowledge of LLNL’s Cyber Security policies, processes and requirements.

 

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
