Responsibilities

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Direct Digital Control Systems Programmer.

In this role you will provide technical application of principles, theories, and concepts associated with the operation, maintenance, configuration management, and modification of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Facility Management Control Systems. This will include but is not be limited to the implementation and operation of software, control system designs, graphical development, as well as ensuring the control system operational requirements are implemented, monitored, analyzed and documented. These tasks will be performed on the various building automation systems (BAS) located across the INL.

The core responsibilities of this position are to:

Collaborate with Engineering to develop control strategies for new and existing facilities.

Function as a Subject Mater Expert in order to offer solutions to everyday issues for Facility Managers, Engineers, and Researchers.

Use experience and knowledge working with facility engineers and operators to troubleshoot and repair issues associated with building automation systems (BAS).

Using the various software packages, develop intuitive graphical interfaces.

Work with Construction Management to review, verify and approve new BAS installations.

Create smart facilities by deploying system analytics and fault detection.

Provide emergency support 24x7 as needed.

The successful candidate will work with little supervision, be self-motivated, and be able to work with a team. The systems that are currently deployed at the INL include the following:

BS degree in instrumentation and controls, or related field, plus 5-8 years’ experience, or an Advanced degree plus 3-6 years’ experience, or 13-16 years' experience in the operation and programming of Direct Digital Control Systems in lieu of a degree.

Direct knowledge and experience in the programming of Alerton Visual Logic algorithms is preferred.

Alerton ACE certification or similar credential from another control manufacturer is preferred.

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) "L" clearance which requires applicants to be a U.S. Citizen.

Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DOE "L" clearance.
