Contracts Manager

Missile Systems (MS) Contracts has an opening for a Contracts Manager in the Strategic and Naval Systems (SNS) product line supporting the Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) IB program. SM-3 is an important ballistic missile defense system that provides layered protection around the world.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the SM-3 IB program team and responsible for contractual management of ongoing production efforts. The successful candidate’s duties will include a lead role in Request for Proposal (RFP) assessment, capture and proposal strategy, contract negotiation, customer engagement and collaboration, and contract administration. The successful applicant will be the primary customer interface for business and contracting matters. The selected candidate will advise management of contractual rights and obligations and means to mitigate contractual/program risks.

Responsibilities include working closely with Program Managers and Business/Estimating functions to construct, submit and negotiate pricing proposals; providing support to senior management regarding contractual and business issues; ensuring that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies while creating quality business results; and advising management of contractual rights and obligations and possible mitigation of contractual/program risks. This position is based in Huntsville, AL with moderate travel required.

Position Expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts and other business arrangements; ability to contribute to negotiation strategy and possess strong negotiation skills
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills, and track record of responsiveness
  • Excel in multitasking and handling several assignments concurrently
  • Past experience in providing contractual solutions to both the Customer and Program Team
  • Excel in time management and organizational skills
  • Experience in working within a team fostering teamwork and trust

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • 8 yrs of experience with negotiation and administration of major contracts and/or subcontracts
  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree may be considered in lieu of 2 yrs of experience)
  • Experience in domestic contracting including terms and conditions, FAR/DFARS, employing policies and procedures, and Risk Mitigation
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Computer proficiency, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and shared data bases

Desired Skills:
  • Existing US Government issued security clearance
  • JD and/or MBA

Security Clearance
This position requires the eligibility to obtain security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
