Configuration Management Engineer IRES

Description of Duties:

The IRES Configuration Management Engineer supports the Missile DefenseAgency (MDA) on the Integrated Research & Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES)contract.The candidate will:

  • Assists with definition of process objectives with the process owner and works accordingly
  • Coordinates and assists in staff training
  • Helps define and maintain scope and level at which Configuration Items (CIs) are to be identified
  • Helps define and maintain CI naming and numbering conventions
  • Coordinates and manages compliance to CI registration procedures
  • Interfaces with Change Management to perform mass updates, corrections, or attribute changes to the Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
  • Perform audits and verification activities against the CMDB to ensure changes are recorded and authorized
  • Works with system management tools to assist with CMDB data integrity
  • Performs regular housekeeping on CMDB (maintain value lists and archival process)
  • Reviews processes and tools for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assists external auditors with compliance activities and implements corrective action
  • Monitor management reports and KPIs, providing variance explanations and initiating corrective action.
  • Produces CMDB reports for their functional area and technical

This position is located at SchrieverAFB, CO.

The position will be posted for two weeks ending 4 October 2019. If acandidate has not been selected at that time, it will continue to be posteduntil a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.

Basic Requirements:
High School Diploma (or GED) plus 6 years generalexperience or an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or universityplus 4 years general experience or a Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 yearsgeneral experience or a Master’s Degree.
  • Minimum four years of directly related Configuration Management experience

  • Experience within an IT organization (cultural and technical knowledge)

  • Knowledge in CM disciplines (planning, identification, control, status accounting and auditing) across both hardware and software components

  • Understanding of IT Infrastructure and technology DoD Secret Clearance required


  • CMtools experience (Remedy or similar defect tracking/configuration statusaccounting system CM Certifications

  • Experiencein developing policies and procedures

  • Experiencein ITIL with the ability to establish vision, drive organizational change anddeliver positive results in an IT operations environment

  • Detail oriented
  • Inventory control experience
  • Works well with deadlines (will work with regularly scheduled audits) People skills at gaining consensus and collaboration
