Configuration Management (CM) Specialist

Job Description:


SAIC is building a team to support the National Institutes of Health's IT Development and their effort to implement a set of common functional Shared Services and is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to be a part of this team. 


The Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for setting up, administering, maintaining, and operating version control and action item tracking automation systems. The CM Specialist will perform verification of baseline artifacts and compliance of development team with CM policies, perform configuration identification, assign artifacts to baselines, establish baselining policies, conduct baseline reviews, and conduct configuration control meetings to disposition defect reports and enhancement requests to release schedule. The CM Specialist is the primary point of responsibility for integrity of product composition and control of changes made to the product.


Products, data, software, and artifacts to be controlled include source code, configuration data, build instructions and CI/CD configuration files, product baselines and sets of identifications of files, IDs of build content instructions, CM audits, controlled processes, reviews, and delivered documentation.


The CM Specialist will work with the Technical Program Manager to report status of CM systems and coordinate meetings for dispositioning action items and change requests, to generate reports of CM baselines, recommend changes and improvements to CM systems, and train team members on CM systems and processes.


Other responsibilities include:


·    Running configuration control board meetings.


·    Assist the PM with CM risk identification and configuration control metrics.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:


·    BA or BS degree


·    Experience with Jira or other action item and defect tracking systems.


·    Experience with version control systems.


·    Experience in software systems development, operations, or maintenance.


·    Knowledge of configuration control practices.


 


Desired Qualifications:


·    Experience administering, configuring, and writing scripts to control CM software systems, especially those that interact with or can drive CI/CD tools.


 


Clearance Requirement:

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance.
