We have an opening for a Condition Assessment Survery (CAS) Inspector.  You will provide advanced technical and administrtive oversight and coordination to a specific maintenance descipline area inspection, which includes architectrual, mechanical, electrical systems and asbestos sampling and re-inspections.  This position is in the Facilities & Infrastructure Department.

Essential Duties

- Provide advanced technical and administrative oversight, planning and coordination of facility condition surveys (CAS), ensuring that accurate data is provided to the Department of Energy, per DOE Order 430.1c.
- Review and analyze moderatley complex pre-inspection packages regarding current deficiencies, electrical equipment, building condition and layout; train and mentor others in area of expertise.
- Coordinate specific discipline inspection efforts, including facility shutdown, with facility personnel, system managers, program staff, and Hazards Control personnel.
- Plan and lead meetings with facility personnel to discuss safety and security requirements and make decisions on specific courses of action pertaining to inspections.
- Anticipate and reconcile support problems, including technical factors affecting critical CAS program inspection milestones.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to security, Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H), and work control requirements to ensure proper and efficient operation during building inspections.
- Frequent interaction with technical, administrative and managerial personnel, as well as DOE contractors to update and improve CAS inspection criteria as required.
- Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in the pursuit of department and program goals.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in the appropriate technology or an equivalent combination of education and significant related experience in construction, or maintenance and operations of facility systems or utility site infrastructure systems.
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems related to electrical facility systems and components.
- Advanced organizational skills with proven ability to handle a large volume of work effectively with multiple conglicting tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, facility inspections, cost estimating and scheduling; working familiarity with databases used in facility maintenance and construction.
- Strong commitment to safety with experience applying a high level of safety awareness and safe working practices.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, schematics and utility drawings; generating reports on equipment inventories, history and condition.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines.
- Intermediate knowldege of computer operating systems and related software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desired Qualifications

- Knowledge of F&I Condition Assessment Survey Program, and DOE Order 430.1b, Real Property Asset Management.
- Knowledge of the Asbestos Maintenance Surveillance Program.
- Knowledge of the function and operation of the Facilities & Infrastructure Department.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
