The Defense group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Computer Scientist to work in Springfield, VA on the RECON project, in support of the NGA's Research Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting edge technology in an R&D environment and support critical warfighter missions.

Our project is looking for the ability to identify object types and variants from overhead imagery given that distinguishing features can be very subtle.  This characterization effort needs to be done in a timely, reliable, accurate and repeatable manner over very large areas.  The goal of this effort will be to fully automate the end-to-end imagery cycle, increase productivity of the analysts and dramatically reduce the time from data receipt and analysis to delivery of results by the decision maker and warfighter. The efforts of this project will ultimately support activities such as the NGA Director’s Automation, Augmentation and AI (AAA) GeoINT sprint and the ODNI’s Augmentation of Intelligence using Machines (AIM) activity led by the PDD for ODNI.  The incumbent will provide domain experience, systems engineering and cloud environment expertise in support of this project.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Full stack development (front-end and back-end)
  • Optimize and containerize existing code

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree and 6 years relevant experience (add'l experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • TS/SCI with CI Poly
  • Experience with Python, PostGIS/PostGRES databases, SQL required
  • Experience with QGIS is a plus
