Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Systems of Systems Department within the Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID). The Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). The more than 1,100 employees of SADID provide requirements definition and design at the system, subsystem and component level every day in a collaborative environment which is characterized by respect for the individual, problem solving in a team setting, consensus oriented solutions, and results based recognition. Supporting this mission are teams providing domain expertise and creative solutions in surveillance, naval and missile defense based radar system design, sonar and undersea sensor system design, integrated air and missile defense systems engineering, command and control/battle management system design, combat system and platform architecture design and integration, operational analysis and simulation modeling research and development, software intensive system engineering, cyber solutions and algorithm development for signal processing, tracking and discrimination systems. The System of System Department (SoS) supports IDS by providing world class Weapon Systems Engineering. Domain Expertise includes Radar Systems, Effector Systems, Battle Management, Command and Control, Communications, Network Design, Battlespace Integration and Interoperability for Domestic and International Customers.

This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or G09 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Job Description:
Raytheon Company is seeking a Systems Engineer with expertise in the development, installation and fielding of Communications Systems. The primary role is to develop and integrate hardware and software for the communications and networking systems used in air and missile defense systems and command and control systems such as Patriot and the Qatar Air Defense Operations Center. The successful candidate will be proficient in executing life cycle development and installation of military systems. The engineer will interface with customer program office personnel, US Government program office personnel, and suppliers to ensure the communications hardware, network design, and infrastructure support the performance requirements.

Required Skills:

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in design, development, and analysis of communications systems and network designs
  • Ability to effectively perform system trades to evaluate hardware/software products, architectures, and requirements solutions
  • Ability to convey technical designs, ideas and results to non-technical audiences and provide briefings to high-level government personnel
  • Experience in authoring technical documents (reports, briefings, etc.) Demonstrated ability to apply the engineering design process to discover innovative methods to solve technical problems to meet client requirements
  • Ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance within 1 year of start date.


Desired Skills:

  • Existing DoD Security Clearance
  • Experience with TELDAT, CISCO and Juniper networking equipment
  • Experience with Harris Voice communications systems
  • Design experience in Army ground communications architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate mission solutions at a top level (OV-1, SV-1) and to identify and define detailed criteria to meet top level Key Performance Parameters (KPPs).

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
