Cloud Security Architect

The Cloud Security Architect supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This position supports the agile development process and is responsible for design and implementation of security features for cloud-stored data and applications, design and implementation of automation, orchestration scripts and applications’ build, release, deployment, and configuration activities. The successful candidate must be able to interact, develop, and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with US Government officials, clients, vendors and partners at all levels of a professional organization. The candidate serves as a subject matter expert for automation and orchestration in IaaS/PaaS/SaaS cloud environments. Other responsibilities include working with internal business partners to gather requirements, prototyping, architecting, implementing/updating solutions, building and executing test plans, performing quality reviews, and managing operations. The candidate will need to adopt and lead by example with the “Infrastructure as Code” mindset; demonstrate ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes; identify and understand requirements; develop alternate solutions that address specific business needs and product/service strategies. Additional duties include taking the lead role to identify areas of focus and tackle new challenges with or without direction for researching, designing, prototyping, developing, testing, performing quality reviews, deploying, and managing applications / systems operations using proven or emerging technologies, in a variety of environments, to drive the adoption of new technologies, architectures, and products in support of security requirements for cloud-based practices. This position may located at Schriever AFB, CO or Redstone Arsenal, AL.


Basic Requirements: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: High School diploma (or GED) and 16 years general experience; an Associate’s degree and 14 years general experience; a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years general experience; a Master’s degree and 10 years general experience. General experience must include 8 years directly related experience in several of the following areas: cloud provider ecosystems, including VMware, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or RedHat Virtualization; knowledge of NIST 800-53; Risk Management Framework (RMF), Cybersecurity requirements and processes; advanced TCP/IP networking knowledge; operations experience in either Linux or Windows operating systems (RedHat 6/7, Windows Server 2012/2016); DevOps in an agile organization. Candidate must have or have the ability to obtain at least one of the following certifications: AWS (Solution Architect/DevOps/SysOps); Linux (e.g. RHCE); Windows (e.g. MSCE). Candidate must be DoD 8570 compliant with an active IASA Level II certification (e.g. CISSP (or Associate, CASP+CE, etc). Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
Desired Requirements: Professional Accreditations (CISSP, CCSLP, CASP, CEH, CCNP/CCIE, CCSP). Master's degree in a technical discipline such as Information Security, Information Technology or Cloud Computing. Experience supporting federal Assessment and Authorization (A&A) projects resulting in an Authorization to Operate (ATO) and with DoDAF architectures. Experience with a broad range of technologies including: nextgen firewalls, DLP, IDS/IPS, IdAM, WAF, Kerberos, encryption and hashing concepts, PKI, web proxies, certificate management, SIEM, Log Management, endpoint protection, vulnerability assessment, cloud platform security, databases, shell scripting/programming, configuration management tools, container management, software build management, automation/configuration, SCRUM/Agile, and JavaScript frameworks.
