Classified Cloud Operations Lead

Job Description:
Raytheon currently has an exciting IT position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are seeking a Classified Cloud Operations Lead that will be responsible for maintaining the overall health of a national, classified data center, transforming our data center IT services into cloud or cloud-like services, and collaborating with functional areas including Engineering, Security, Networks, and representatives from other businesses within Raytheon.

Key Responsibilities:
The candidate’s roles and responsibilities include:
  • Develop and maintain data center and cloud expertise
  • Research, deploy, and support private cloud technologies and ‘as-a-service’ capabilities
  • Apply automation capabilities to streamline and secure technical processes
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems, which may impact multiple work areas
  • Drive technical projects & implementations from beginning-to-end to improve data center services
  • Provide support and guidance on technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy, SAN, DNS, DHCP, backups, DR, e-mail, virtualization (application, desktop and server)
  • Ensure security compliance, including maintaining strict access control and overseeing the deployment of entire suite of security products
  • Plan for capacity, performance, and service availability of all servers and storage
  • Ensure data compliance, including overseeing backups, data location, and data retention policies
  • Apply best practices to all aspects of the data center, from physical facilities to operating system configuration
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to 1st and 2nd level system administrators
  • Develop relationships and be a sphere of influence across functional areas, businesses, and vendors
  • Provide guidance, planning, and initiative on efforts to improve the data center and cloud services
  • Ensure smooth operations of systems and the general health of the data center environment, including performing routine physical inspections and log and dashboard reviews
  • Create and maintain technical and detailed design documentation

Required:
  • U.S. Citizenship status
  • Proven understanding of data center and cloud concepts and technologies
  • Ability to effectively provide direction for a multi-disciplined IT team
  • Minimum of 6 years experience with the following:
    • Windows Server operating systems (2008, 2012, 2016)
    • Active Directory and Group Policy in a multi-domain, multi-site environment
    • Network and infrastructure services such as domain controllers, global catalogs, DNS, and DHCP
    • Infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity
    • Infrastructure security (e.g. Antivirus, patching)
    • VMware vSphere and vCenter
    • Systems Monitoring
    • Storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, Fiber
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication
  • Proven technical, professional, and business knowledge
  • Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and in collaborative teams
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication

Desired experience in the following:
  • Cloud-based solutions (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS)
  • Cloud concepts and approaches (Private, public, hybrid, etc.)
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Linux operating systems
  • HP hardware (workstations, servers & storage)
  • CompTIA Security+ certification
  • ITIL Foundation and/or Service Operations certifications
  • Microsoft, cloud, and/or other industry standard certifications

Required Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and 6 years of relevant experience

or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline, a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience
