Cisco VoIP Engineer

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 9 years of professional experience; or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree. Considered an emerging authority.
• Holds a Cisco Certified Network Profession Voice or Collaboration(CCNP Voice/Collaboration) certification
• Directs the work of an eight-person Help Desk team; 4 with Tier 1 level skills and four with Tier II level skills
• Diagnoses and resolves acute or chronic issues
• Identifies systemic manufacturing defects in hardware and software
• Identifies defects in or deviations from configuration and architecture standards Manages defect resolution with defect owner; e.g., manufacturer, architect, or developer
• Manages external support relationships and contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs.)
• Receives and evaluates manufacturer tech bulletins
• Receives, assesses, and tests patches with bug or vulnerability fixes
• Plans changes
• Escalates unresolved issues to Tier 4 (manufacturer, architect, or developer)
• Ability to clearly convey technical details to management, teammates, and VA clients
• Ability to obtain a high BI clearance

Job Description
VA is operating a centrally-managed voice service across a geographically dispersed area supporting multiple Cisco Collaboration products. These products will serve to maintain and improve the Veteran experience when contacting the VA.. Leidos Innovations/Systems Made Simple provides Operations, Maintenance, Administration, Provisioning, and Repair (OMAPR) of these systems, which may include support for the migration of services to new alternate VA sites and continuing OMAPR support for those new sites.
The project is in need of an additional engineer with Cisco, Microsoft, and VMware technology expertise to support Enterprise Voice System (EVS) Phase I Sustainment program. The EVS engineers provide the lead technical role in engineering telephony solutions for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In addition, they direct the work of the Help Desk team and are readily available to perform troubleshooting and administration actions as required to support Tier I and II support functions. The EVS engineer will support the continued training and guidance of Help Desk staff to facilitate continued process improvements and achievement of performance measures related to user response and issue resolution.
