We are Missile Systems, a technology and innovation leader specializing in missile systems. We are seeking a nationally recognized Systems Test engineer with advanced expertise in developing program test strategies for missile systems. The ideal candidate has proven experience in defining program test strategies and methodologies, and has the ability to represent and defend those strategies at the highest levels across the customer community and the companies leadership.

Job Description:
This is a Principal Engineering Fellow position within the Systems Test Directorate. This position will be responsible for developing and guiding the execution of Test Strategies across a broad portfolio of missile programs. The Test Strategies will span the entire missile life cycle.The life cycle includes consideration for the User Operational test strategy, the Developmental/Qualification test strategy and the Production test strategy.This position will be required to leverage networks within the DoD and Program Customer communities to influence acceptance of Missile Systems test strategies and initiatives. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of the Systems Test Directorate, and will interact with senior leadership across engineering, operations and the program office organizations.The position will work primarily within Missile Systems, but will be considered a strategic Corporate resource for the most demanding Test issues when they emerge across the corporation.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Developing and Guiding Execution of Test Strategies across a broad portfolio of missile systems programs.
  • Supporting capture activities by developing pursuit Test Strategies that provide clear discriminators in Missile Systems proposals.
  • Drive expertise in defining Model Based Engineering reference architectures for program test strategy development to enable others to contribute at a higher level, improving Missile Systems performance in both development cycle time and production efficiency.
  • Lead weapon system architecture and design decisions involving trade studies around design for test.
  • Engage across Missile Systems Engineering and Operation disciplines to ensure proper implementation of program test strategies.
  • Work with customers and stakeholders as a key investigator for addressing program test issues.
  • Influence and align with DoD T&E policy and technologies within OSD and the services.
  • Nationally recognized across the industry and government as an expert in the field of Test, to spotlight the Company as a leader in innovative solutions.
  • Viewed within the company as an expert within the enterprise and should have knowledge across the full life cycle model for the Corporation as well as the industry.
  • Responsible for providing guidance, coaching / mentoring and training to Engineering Fellows and other Engineering staff members.

Required Education:
  • Master’s Degree; preferably in math, engineering or science.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Twenty (20) years of applied engineering experience; preferably in:
    • Weapon system performance verification (including qualification)
    • Embedded/functional test solutions
    • Developmental and Qualification Test environment design
    • Production Test solutions
  • System test experience collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines, such as electronics, mechanical, and software engineering.
  • Have led the test strategy component for large competitive technical proposals. Understands how to shape a program test strategy as a key enabler for the overall program win theme.
  • Understands and can articulate the Systems Test role in Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) maturation on programs.
  • Understands and can communicate the primary tenets of a program test strategy
  • Proficiency with Model Based Engineering (MBE) tools, such as Rhapsody or Magic Draw.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting technical data and interacting with customer community in design reviews and technical interchange meetings

Other Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Clearance w/ SSBI; Active DoD Top Secret clearance w/SSBI preferred

Desired Skills, Experience and credentials:
  • Patents, Papers and Publications in related technical field
  • Evidence of patents and/or reviewed publications/presentations in related field(s)
  • Strong understanding of the DoD 5000.02 process, with focus on the T&E aspects. Understands the role of the DoD Key Leadership Position, the Chief Developmental Tester (CDT) and the expected interactions with the CDT.
  • Experience with leadership participation in T&E related customer-industry organizations (NDIA, ITEA, IEEE)
  • Have a strong network established within the DoD T&E community (e.g. DASD-DT&E, DOT&E, Services T&E – AFOTEC, ATEC, COMOPTEVFOR, MCOTEA).
  • Exhibits ingenuity and innovation by applying advance concepts in the area of systems engineering for test (Model Based Engineering, Statistical Test and Analysis Techniques, Enterprise Architecting methods) to lead and direct critical Systems Test initiatives.
  • Recognized reputation and presence required to advise executive leadership in pursuit of organizational business objectives.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ph.D. in Systems Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
