Chief Cyber Engineer/Architect

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Cyber Engineer and Solutions Architect. This is a customer-facing position with frequent interactions with IT leadership requiring excellent communication skills are required. 

 
 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Chief Engineer/Architect shall be responsible for a diverse range of information security technical analytical projects, and activities which include: designing, developing, deploying, and testing the Agency's information systems; analyzing the information security environment by identifying potential vulnerabilities; developing security measures to safeguard information. Implement multi-faceted large scale and/or enterprise-wide IT projects in accordance with the system development life cycle, PMF, and ICD 503 in support of Agency policies and regulations as appropriate. 

 
Serves as a voting member at the engineering review board. Note: NDAs will be required.

Must have a strong understanding of the IT infrastructure and inter relationship of the following disciplines: network, storage, backup, server platforms, desktop, database, middleware, monitoring, application, and security.

Identify, analyze, define, and coordinate customer needs and translate them into technical INFOSEC requirements.

Coordinate and as requested provide leadership and technical expert guidance to team  members.

Provide system engineering, design, and implementation.

Provide 5MB level assistance with complex work assignments involving analysis, design, development, and deployment of innovative hardware systems and applications.

Work with the technical team to review and assess software applications and hardware to protect inion and systems from unauthorized access, denial of service, and compromise of information assets.

Develop and maintain effective disaster recovery information security system plans, processes, and procedures necessary to recover services in the event of a declared disaster.

Identify discrepancies between the enterprise technical architecture and system designs proposed by project teams, and assist project teams in resolving the discrepancies.

Stay abreast of latest trends and technologies and ensure that the Agency's cyber defense protections are adequate and effective and make recommendations on the way forward

Maintain system baselines and configuration management items, including security event monitoring "policies" in a manner determined and agreed to by the management.
Ensure changes are made using an approval process agreed to in advance

Participate in all engineering review boards within CSG.

Plan for future technologies integration by providing the architecture roadmap and  work closely with other groups


 

 

REQUIRED Qualifications: 

A bachelor's degree in systems engineering, computer engineering, computer science.
Minimum of 15years of progressively responsible experience in IT Architecture, Security
Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering with emphasis in systems engineering, design, and implementation. At Sponsor's discretion, equivalent experience of eight (8) years demonstrated experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge and a minimum of 10years hands-on experience with System Engineering Lifecycle, Project Management, and process methodology related to governance, management, engineering, and operations with experience in supporting project activities at engineering and operations review boards.
- Demonstrated knowledge minimum10 years' hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, which includes the following disciplines: network, storage, backup, platforms, middleware, application, monitoring, and security.
- Demonstrated knowledge and minimum 5years' experience in creating architecture
framework and associated artifacts.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in O&M and configuration management controls
and use.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, communications, and briefing skills.
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Information Technology related to Network Management or similar
discipline.
- Architect training preferred.
May be called on to lead special projects or investigations into specific technology or solution issues and to shepherd research and piloting of new capabilities with engineers and/or partner organizations as required.
In coordination with CDD Staff management and the TREND II PM, ensure compliance with all applicable Agency, CSG, and CDD program management requirements for managing IT engineering projects, including the Agency Program Management Framework for all TREND II projects. Represent CDD at relevant Agency-level boards to gain approvals for new technology and shepherd projects thru the necessary change management boards and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and processes.

Stay abreast of latest trends and technologies and ensure that the Agency's cyber defense protections are adequate and effective and make recommendations on the way forward. 


 
 


 

Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Management Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, Social Science, Education, Human Resources Development, and Psychology or other related disciplines and twelve to fifteen years of experience or Master’s degree and ten to twelve years of related experience or PhD and eight to nine years of related experience.
