Chemical Detection Scientist/Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Provide Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to the Government Program Manager (PM) and apply technical support and expertise in chemical detection technologies focusing on novel nanotechnology approaches. Assimilate and integrate technical inputs from performers and analyze performers' technical deliverables and reports. Conduct technical writing and develop and refine briefing materials, and other program documentation using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Conduct independent review and summary of related technical literature and emerging technologies and participate in conferences and workshops related to program technical areas. Develop and document testing methodologies and protocols, ensuring they align with program technology components and assess performer results against program metrics. Coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks across multiple performers. Perform continuous analysis of technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule and technical and programmatic risk analysis, review, and tracking.

Basic Qualifications:

-2+ years of experience with trace chemical detection in the field or a lab

-Experience with at least two of the following: absorbent chemistry, pre-concentrators, polymer science, or encapsulation

-Experience with one or more of the following: nanotechnology, micro-engineered materials, reaction kinetics, protein binding pockets, protein kinetics, or mass spectrometry

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph required

-MA or MS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Science, or Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment

-Ability to write concisely

-Ability to convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise accurately

-Possession of excellent persuasive oral and written communication skills

-PhD degree
