Cartographic Analyst

Overview

SOSi is currently looking for an experienced  TS/SCI cleared Cartography Analyst to join our team in Vicenza, IT.  We are a small defense contracting company that is veteran owned servicing the US Department of Defense.  The successful candidate will receive competitive wages, health plans and the opportunity to join a small company that still believes every employee counts.

Responsibilities

The Cartography analyst will be performing detailed geospatial data extraction against a variety of targets to develop a complete and in-depth analysis of the area of interest.  Specific duties and responsibilities the cartographic analyst will provide are the following:

  • Provide support to the customer by producing complex graphics, digital representations, textual reports and briefings.
  • Extract and/or access geospatial information, derivative information and multi-INT data from selected sources for analysis and visualization; apply geospatial analytical methods, substantive intelligence expertise and logical judgement to solve problems, provide decision support; and enhance knowledge for intelligence issues.
  • Extract Feature Data using National Technical Means (NTM); Mapping, Charting, and Geodesy (MC&G) Stereo Imagery; Digital Point Positioning Database (DPPDB) or Orthorectified Geotiffs (MSOG); Precise Orthorectified Image Datasets (POID); Controlled Image Base (CIB).
  • Utilize stereo and mono imagery in the extraction of special geospatial datasets supporting customers geospatial mission
  • Develop and implement a metadata catalog based on the customers standards for spatial metadata.
  • Work closely with the customer in a team environment to produce oral and written reports; develop various geospatial datasets and visualizations of geospatial information and intelligence to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Support the customer in establishing and managing detailed geospatial data extraction and analysis, research and production goals, strategies, and processes.
  • Provide research and analysis activities in support of the production of intelligence products related to the area of interest and customer needs.
  • Support the customer to create, update and manage geospatial information system databases and products.
  • Support the customer to identify, compile, and asses geospatial data.
Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • A HS degree with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • An active in-scope TOP SECRET SCI clearance.
  • Knowledge of GIS applications such as ARC GIS, ARC View and ARC Explorer, ESRI, Socet-Set, GoogleEarth, and Remoteview, and Microsoft Virtual Earth.
  • Knowledge of customer products such as Controlled Image Base (CIB1), Topographic Line Maps (TLMs), Digital Terrain Elevation Data (DTED), Shuttle Radar Topography Mission(SRTM), National Technical Means (NTM) in boundary recovery processes, including data retrieval and storage.
  • Knowledge of the customer's specified digital data formats will be used including but not limited to, commercial imagery, NTM, airborne, motion and full motion imagery, panchromatic data, spectral data, and SAR data.
  • Knowledge of standard and non standard reports including but not limited to NES remarks, NIIBs, First Looks and IRs.
  • Attended a basic military Intelligence Course
  • Highly skilled in data mining using M3, open-source reporting and other intel sources.
  • Cartographic map finishing/hardcopy production, feature extraction, and data content management related experience required.
  • Prepare, maintain, and present intelligence displays, reports, and briefings with the creation and use of visual aids and drafting, editing, and proofreading documents for publishing.
  • Manage a geospatial database.
  • Perform QA/QC functions and correct data call errors. 
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel.
  • Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
  • Willing to take and pass a CI Poly.     

 

DESIRED:

  • Knowledge of python scripting to streamline and automate routine production processes.

Working Conditions

The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.  The work location is a government facility located on a military installation in Vicenza, IT supporting a DoD customer.  The successful applicant will be working for and reporting directly to the prime contractor or the DoD customer as appropriate.
