Career Opportunities for Network Engineers in support of ARMY Customer

SAIC has several contingent career opportunities for Network Engineers to support an Army customer in Fort Huachuca, AZ. These positions are contingent upon contract award.

 

The Network Engineers design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities. Prepares the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling. May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis. May evaluate new technology. Duties may include providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors. Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.

 

Ensure that all devices managed by the USARCC-C are working correctly with such Government-provided network management tools such as Spectrum, BMC Network Automation (BNA), Netscout, eHealth, DIRECTRON, Access Control Servers (ACS), and new tools as fielded. Provide support at the USARCC-C Network Operations Center (NOC) 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to push ACL modifications and troubleshoot outages and other network issues. Operates, monitors, sustains, and secures networked devices including switches, routers, servers, firewalls, and VPN servers. Uses Government-provided tools such as Spectrum, BNA, Nesscout, eHealth, DIRECTION and new tools to ensure that all USARCC-C managed devices are performing correctly. Operate, monitor, sustain, and secure such devices as routers, switches, firewalls, OOB management routers, virtual private network (VPN) concentrators, and access control servers.

Qualifications

Basic Education and experience will vary depending on role and level. All positions will require a bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution

 

In addition, all positions will require:

Networking experience, including the use of network management tools such as Spectrum/BMC Network Automation/NetScout/eHealth/Directron/ACS, etc.

Active Secret clearance 

Baseline DoD IAT Level II certification, such as: CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP. Additionally, the DoD 8570.01-M also requires a Computing Environment Certification, as explained below:“8570 Computing

"C3.2.4.8.3. In addition to the IA baseline certification requirement for their level, IATs with privileged access must obtain appropriate Computing Environment (CE) certifications for the operating system(s) and/or security related tools/devices they support as required by their employing organization. If supporting multiple tools and devices, an IAT should obtain CE certifications for all the tools and devices they are supporting. At a minimum the IAT should obtain a certification for the tool or device he or she spends the most time supporting. For example, if an IAT is spending most of his or her time supporting security functions on a CISCO router, the IAT should obtain a CE certification for that equipment."”
