Calibration/Repair Technician

Completes all work assignments related to inspecting, modifying, repairing, and calibrating Measurement and Test Equipment. Apply knowledge of physics, electrical and electronic theory and higher mathematics to test and evaluate measuring, recording and indicating instruments and test equipment. Performs in-place ESD, radar test sets, Raytheon test fixtures, and test stations calibrations and check conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications with minimum supervision and technical assistance; maintains strict adherence to quality standards. Actively supports and takes part in the Calibration laboratory quality program. Work may be done without established procedures. Serve as primary metrology interface to calibration subcontractors, evaluates subcontractor performance, and coordinates with supply chain and supplier quality as needed. Ensures hazardous materials and waste are handled, stored, and disposed of according to environmental standards.

Required Skills:

The Calibration/Repair Technician will have a minimum of eight years experience in functions such as; inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating, or certifying electrical and mechanical test equipment and laboratory standards.

Must have knowledge of concepts and principles dealing with RF/Microwave, calibration documentation, and quality assurance.

Knowledge of current quality standards for ANSI/ISO 9001, ANSI/Z540-1, and ISO 17025 is required.

Contacts are frequent within and outside organization on significant matters requiring tact, persuasion and negotiation skills.

Normal color vision is required.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Maryland driver’s license.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.


Desired Skills:

Experience in a Military, Commercial or Private Industry Calibration Laboratory environment is desirable.

Knowledge of equipment scheduling, production and material control functions, and environmental requirements is desirable.

Mechanical aptitude and ability to adapt skills to new work processes and facility support equipment preferred.



Required Education:

High School diploma or GED required. Graduation from an approved Department of Defense Metrology course and/or an Associates degree from an accredited institution of higher learning are desirable.
