CADD SPECIALIST III

General Description of Responsibilities:

CADD and Geospatial Specialist responsible for creating and modifying project drawings, aerials and raster graphics, tracking CADD daily priorities and project deliverables.  Ensures Geospatial data fidelity for the Engineering Flight, while adhering to the proper format and organization required by all endeavors.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Prepares CADD drawings for an entire project or a portion of a project by following instructions and translating rough sketches of the Engineers, Architects, and Senior CADD Personnel.  Layouts require a high degree of precision with regard to size, appropriate scale and location of real world objects, using Tri-Service Workspace standards and related principles.
  • Stores, catalogs, maintains, and updates as-built drawings and ongoing in-house projects.  Takes action to ensure that as-built drawings are completed for all projects.  Researches and extracts record drawings from manual drawings and electronic files and updates file system for new inputs.  Keeps a current index and cross-reference of files/drawings. 
  • Produces custom CADD maps, specializing in handling raster reference files and aerial photos, promoting confidence within the Wing as to the reliability of vector information and for better spatial understanding.
  • For Facility Surveys, serves as a member of the Building Measurement Team (BMT) during Facility Space Allocation Surveys (FSAS) by collecting data required to revise the floor plan including measurements and capture space allocation information per the Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE).  Maintains CAD Floor plans, including line work and block attribution (as needed) for all facilities and floors in compliance with AF standards and guidance.  Responsible for providing data required for FSAS including the Drawing of Record (DoR).  Conducts a data quality control analysis of the DoR and supports space allocation reconciliation.  Provides the CAD Floor plan to the GIS Technician for revision of the Space Utilization Data Set (SUDS or S-Files). 
  • Responsible for organization and verification of electronic data and hard-copy deliverables by tracking receipt, version, file location, and future action required to proactively keep Engineering Flight’s records updated.  Researches and extracts record drawings from electronic files and updates file system for new inputs.
  • Operates and maintains Geospatial data collection equipment.  Obtains survey-grade GPS data, enabling optimum data fidelity for Geobase integration.  Maintains adherence to proper work flow processes for downloading of data and verification of data’s accuracy.  Responsible for the ensuring the accurate depiction of the data collected on the end product.  Reports all accuracy errors to CADD Supervisor.  Assists team members with use of equipment.
  • Provides CADD drafting and plotting services to internal and external customers of Engineering Flight.  Communicates with customer on all job requests and CADD-related requirements.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of plotter, printer and scanner hardware and operations.
  • Interacts with Base Engineering, maintenance staff and other internal and external customers.  Possesses a high comfort level with fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.

Job Requirements, Mandatory:

  •   Active Secret Clearance
  • Intermediate level of expertise in both Microstation and AutoCAD, at a minimum.
  • High degree of skill in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access software, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations using standardized tables and formulas.
  • Skill in maintaining and operating reproduction and plotting machines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • On-call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1- hour

Job Requirements, Preferred:

  • Familiar with U.S. Air force procedures, programs, methods, regulations and resources.
  • College Degree
