Job Description

This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.

This position requires an Interim Secret Clearance Pre - Start , Secret Clearance post start.

Work may be performed at any location both domestic and abroad. Position Overview

Boeing is contracted by the government to provide maintenance support for the KC-46A Phase III receiver qualification testing conducted by the USAF. Our main function is to provide flight test support and modifications for the USAF

The aviation maintenance technician does mechanical, electrical and inspection type processes. Traditional Air Force positions that it mirrors are APG, specialist, instrumentation, sheet metal shop, machinist, quality assurance, etc…

  • Launch and recover aircraft
  • Post and preflight aircraft
  • Functional and ground test
  • Modifications including:
  • Locate and drill parts
  • Route, terminate, splice wires
  • Remove and replace line removable units.



Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform production installations, maintenance*, preventative maintenance** and alterations*** on aircraft structure, systems and sub-systems, including electrical and avionics on standard or experimental certificated aircraft.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, service aircraft and engine systems to prepare aircraft for flight. Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • May perform Aviation Maintenance Technician Inspection tasks in order to obtain and maintain knowledge, skills and required certifications.
  • Perform audit/surveillance of all manufacturing and quality assurance processes, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform Quality functions such as: Customer Coordination, Configuration
  • Change Verification, Conformity Inspections, Airworthiness Inspections (including Pre-flight and Post-flights), Corrective Action and Investigations.
    Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
  • May perform Aviation Maintenance Technician tasks in order to obtain and maintain knowledge, skills and required certifications.

 

Definition of Terms
Maintenance* means inspection, overhaul, repair, preservation, and the initial installation and/or replacement of parts.

Preventive maintenance** means simple or minor preservation operations and the replacement of small standard parts not involving complex assembly operations.

Alterations*** means modifications that permanently or temporarily change an airplane from its original design configuration

Associated Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions, forms, and publications to accomplish work assignment.
  • Maintains Company required records and inspection forms. Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Plan and organize the sequence of your own work package in such a way as to promote safe, efficient operation and meet predetermined schedules in a timely manner.
  • Operate any and all types of information systems required to perform assigned tasks.
    Including but not limited to Company WEB based systems and Microsoft
  • Office products.
    Interpret and perform to the requirements of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and other approved/accepted data.
  • Apply applicable mathematical calculations to setup and use precision measuring tools, to measure gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters and depths.
  • Make production aids to facilitate work assignment. Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work.
  • As assigned, exchange information with suppliers, customers or other company representatives to explain or demonstrate operations, tests or difficulties.

Qualifications


This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. 

Basic Qualifications (Required)

  • This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • High school graduate or GED is required.
  • This position requires an individual when working at heights to utilize fall protection equipment that has weight limitations.
  • Must be able to work any shift, overtime and holidays as required.
  • Previous avionics or electrical experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

  • Prefer a minimum of five years of aircraft maintenance experience on complex jet powered aircraft with military, airline or certificated repair station background.
  • Prefer Boeing 767 experience in the areas of aircraft systems, electrical, avionics and other maintenance and/or inspection tasks.

Physical Requirements (Required)

  • This position requires constant standing and walking, frequent bending at the waist, twisting, pushing/pulling, occasional kneeling and crawling, and lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds
