C# Software Developer

For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place.

We have an opening for a C# Software Developer to work on projects that cover a range of system and application technologies in the area of Application Development. You will have an active role in implementing relational databases, configuring and deploying applications to user environments, and building dynamic software application backend systems using the C# service.  You will also provide VMWare support and development for servers and client’s systems. This position is within the Applications, Simulations, and Quality (ASQ) Division of the Computation Directorate, matrixed to support the Nuclear Material Control & Accountability Team under the WCI Software Operations Team (WSOFT).

This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

Essential Duties
- Provide broad full stack developer support, implement relational databases, configure and deploy applications to user environments, build dynamic software application backend systems, and support and implement a VMWare environment network.
- Perform comprehensive software engineering, using established development practices, tools, and processes for achieving robust software quality; including testing, configuration management, change management, and documentation.
- Monitor production services and respond to system problems and user issues.
- Contribute to the fulfillment of technical projects and organizational objectives functioning as an effective team member on multi-disciplinary teams.
- Provide solutions to problems of moderate complexity involving multiple, largely identifiable factors that require the creative use of established and/or innovative methods.
- Engage other developers frequently to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations, working to fulfill deliverables as a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
In Addition at the SES.3 level
- Provide front-end web developer support, designing and implementing user interfaces and managing all client-side scripting.
- Provide advanced technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring to others in the areas of front-end and full stack web development.
- Exercise independent judgement to define, develop, and implement original solutions to complex problems of a broad and diverse scope at the team or program level.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Broad experience in C# application development and deployment.
- Proficient programming skills in JavaScript, Java EE (JSF, Enterprise Java Beans) with comprehensive knowledge of HTTP, XML, REST.
- Experience in Windows Development environments, as well as experience with relational databases and SQL programming.
- Comprehensive knowledge of web application servers (e.g., GlassFish, Web Logic, Apache Tomcat).
- Knowledge of VMWare and computer network programming and administration.
- Comprehensive analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to creative solutions to moderately complex problems.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to work effectively with application developers, system programmers, and other technical staff.
In Addition at the SES.3 Level
- Advanced knowledge of and significant experience with C# application development and deployment.
- Advanced knowledge of and administration of one or more of the following web application servers: Web Logic, GlassFish, and/or Apache Tomcat.
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases and significant experience using SQL.

Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science.
- Experience with one or more of the following: C# and visual studio, VMWare or Web Logic; and/or advanced knowledge of full stack web application development and relational databases.
- Experience developing software in a team environment.

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing.  Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.  If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note:   This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
