Business Unit Security Specialist

We have an opening for a Security Specialist to support the Cyber Security Program. This position serves as the point of contact for complex day-to-day issues relating to Cyber security across multiple facilities in a highly sensitive area of the Laboratory. This position is in the Chief Information Office (CIO)/Livermore Information Technology (LivIT).

Essential Duties
- Resolves day-to-day security-related issues/inquiries; interprets and provides guidance on Department of Energy (DOE) Security Orders, Laboratory policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals.

- Interacts with senior level security specialist in the analysis, development, and implementation of systems, policies, procedures, methods and practices for the Cyber Security Program (CSP) that assure appropriate controls, including physical, personnel, and information security, are conducted in compliance with LLNL, and DOE directives, orders and requirements.

- Collects and validates operations/administrative data and prepare reports.

- Works closely with the CSP Program Manager on CSP budget projection.

- Serves as point-of-contact (POC) for the DOE HQ Emergency Communications Network (ECN); involved in projects as required, such as the electronics device labeling effort.  Acts as backup Technical Release Representative for CSP.  Performs as Entrust Trusted Agent; supporting Tier 3 and 4 personnel and maintains web content and organization

- Performs administrative assignments including; travel arrangements, submits ePay, eCAP documentation for approval; utilizes LEAP for badging; arranges NIF tours; answers phones, calendaring; tracks and disseminates mail, information.

- May assist higher-level security specialists and business unit managers in conducting self-assessments and audits, assists in evaluating and developing recommendations for improvement, collects and organizes data for reporting.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Associate degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.

- Basic knowledge of security principles and regulatory requirements related to Classified Matter Protection and Control and the ability to understand and follow established LLNL/ DOE practices, standards, processes, and systems.

- Experience functioning effectively as a team member, working collaboratively on projects and the proven ability to build strong relationships with team members and clients.

- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills for own work necessary to recommend appropriate actions and solutions, working effectively under general supervision in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience providing support for self-assessments and audits.

- Extensive experience with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, web sites, and databases.

- Effective organization skills, attention to detail, accuracy and follow through.

- Effective customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a diverse workforce and represent the organization with all levels of management, internal and external to the Laboratory, using tact, diplomacy and discretion.

Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working effectively in a classified environment or special access area and experience working in a scientific or technical program.

- Knowledge and experience working with classified documents, media, Argus, TESA, LEAP, Repositories, and Office 365.

-Instructional design background with Web based instructional design tools experience.



Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.  This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance:  This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) L-level or Q-level clearance or an active Secret or Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.
